What's new
Never thought I'd see the day

Edit: Dang, they're not kidding this time either. What a day for AP =O

It was a broken LED strip on the billboard. because it was broken I asked for a replacement. his only option was "bring it back" he wouldn't give me another strip from another billboard because then "it will be broken" and I'm like "but KC, if I return this to you, you will still have a broken billboard...MINE!!, so just give me the strip" but he's so fucking stubborn. I finally just walked away. now I have no one to buy arcades off of anymore.
I’ll be honest on this, that’s one of the parts least likely to be available for replacement, and even I can’t guarantee something like that. I don’t remember anyone having that problem and it’s probably extremely irregular, but it’s not like any other seller would be able to replace that easily in anything short of months, if they could at all. Just my two cents.

I'm late to this thread. I purchased three cabinets from kcarcade two years back. Long story short. Two out of the three arrived in much worse condition than he had stated. He initially promised to send missing parts and make me whole. But never did. I ended up just giving up and accepting I had been taken advantage of. Live and learn.

To the buyer it doesn’t seem like an issue at all, especially when we can see KC has multiples of the cab in question. 1 part was needed to make an already sold cab complete. If it was a one off type cab, then the understanding/leniency changes in that type of situation.

Damn, glad I saw this thread, I was planning on buying a chunithm as my next cab. I have the advantage of being local and can check everything prior to leaving, and I have bought from him before. I just did not know enough about the chunithm cab to be ready to inspect in person. His last post also said no mat included, is this critical to playing or just an aesthetic thing for placement or something?

exactly. he had fucking 20 of them. I own a business and if I have more than one in stock and I send a unit out that has a defect, you bet your ass I replace it. Its good customer service. ESPECIALLY if that person bought from me in the past multiple times.. Then i 10000% do it.

It was fixed. I got someone to fix the LED band for me. Totally works now.

Hearing all this stories, make me think that we should have stopped this long ago. Please post your experience here, be it good or bad.

I bought a sub-$1000 NAC from him and it was absolutely filthy but worked well after recapping the CRT: https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/new-astro-city-renewal-log.4662/

I then tried to buy an Aero he said would arrive in a month, was something like $750. After several months and no Aero I started asking for my money back and it was like pulling teeth but I eventually got the refund. The Aeros he ended up getting were so bad he was selling them for like 3 or 400 iirc. Some people worked magic on those cabs though.

I personally am sort of sad to see him go, because he sold cheap CRT cabs for people who don't mind doing some work. Not much to go wrong there as long as the tube is solid. Missing pieces of more complex things like rhythm games is a different story so I understand why the admins no longer want to put up with it.

I'd agree if he hadn't just listed a NAC for $3k. <X

I mean, it's no $6500 Egret 2 missing a marquee, but all these retail ass sellers can go peddle their inflated garbage to Facebook suckers as far as I'm concerned. They're not here for community, just to fleece whales. I could do without.

Aside from the $3k nac epiphany news which: LOL

To be fair, being banned from AP doesn't take him out of business. All it does is keep our newer, less knowledgeable/experienced members from getting rugged pulled, as well as more tightly "enforce" the ONE piece of advice we've been giving out on this forums for YEARS about KC: Only buy if local, Don't ship.

The peeps local to KC know well and good how to get ahold of him (Since he really only ever communicated half-decently by text anyways, and even that kinda sucked from my experience), and those that know him over there can word-of-mouth locally to any new arcade dudes they see fit to share that info with. All being banned here does is limit his reach, which if you're gonna keep doing shotty-at-best business for YEARS here despite multiple in-good-faith suggestions on how to better serve the niche community that's supporting your business, frankly, imo, getting your business reach slashed is just karma. Those that know KC and want to do business with him, will, and that number will just be a higher percentage of non-shipping buyers, as it should be 🤷‍♂️

My last KC sale went pretty badly. I bought a Vewlix blue diamond from him for a friend, since he wouldn't deal with my friend anymore. Get the cab, cosmetically, it looks good. He leaves... I turn on the cab... dead monitor. Doesn't turn on. So I call him and he eventually comes back about 3 weeks later with another blue diamond. This one is in way worse shape than the last one cosmetically. Turn on the monitor, it works... but... there are weird issues with the video. I take several pictures and video of the issue. No response after 3 days via text. Before this, he would respond pretty quickly. A week goes by, no response. 2 week, nothing. This is after I kept texting and calling him. So after 3 weeks of being ghosted, I do a PayPal chargeback. As soon as that happens, guess who calls me? He is all mad that I did a charge back. I told him if he would've actually talked to me instead of ghosting me, I wouldn't have to resort to the charge back. So he says he will come and pick up the cab and refunds me. 5 days later, he comes to pick up the cab. He gives me my refund in all cash. I asked him if he looked at the pictures and video that I sent. His response was "no, no time. These monitors at least 10 years old. Will have problems. You too picky." Yeah, I'm not paying $2,500 for a machine with a messed up monitor. At least I got my full refund after a month. Some people aren't so lucky.

"Sounds like complete working, no locks, need clean" to me!

Glad you got your money back man.

Me too. If I didn't, I would've gone to my credit card company. That's what happened with Overcome Arcade. PayPal denied a 50% refund, so I went to my credit card company and they gave me back 100% of my money. So beware of Overcome Arcade too everyone.

Overcome sucks because you can't trust the photos. Guy makes repro art and knows what people think a good cab should look like. He takes very carefully staged photos. Allows him to charge top dollar for sub-KC style shit that was probably ridden hard in Mexico or something for 20 years and then got a coat of cheap paint and cheap stickers. I really should have chargebacked him, but the tube was good and it just ended up being a project when I paid a non-project price. If I wasn't capable of projects, I'd be extremely pissed. He also pulls the thing of saying he's going to send you all your missing parts before ghosting.

E: Also hilarious for a repro sticker guy, my cab was missing the side art it was pictured with.
