I actually haven't tried to update the firmware on mine yet, but did you follow the part about putting jumpers on it?

Update for Brook XB users. Hold the Y button on your controller when powering up the system. This puts the Brook into Xbox 360 controller mode, which causes it to be recognized. Hope this helps!

So far I cannot get anything to happen with mine on the Brook XB Fighting Board. I'm a little unclear on how the key mapping system is supposed to work, so I can't tell if I'm doing something wrong, or if it's not seeing it at all. When I use an Xbox 360 controller it works as expected.

Background: I bought my multi in 2015, and it is running the original firmware with the original set of ROMs from when it released. It arrived right after our son was born. I'd made a support post because I was encountering some problems with sound. Upon troubleshooting I broke some pins...

Well, good news bad news. After cutting the two traces, the sound is MUCH more recognizable, but still some scrambling. I also snapped two pins reconnecting the unit. UGH! They still seem to be making contact though. So next step, even though I've got a rev 7 board (confirmed for realsies)...

I'm up in the Bothell / Mill Creek area. I actually have a local friend with an MVU-4-25. I tried to trick him into putting it at my place when he moved. Sadly it didn't work out. ;-)

The plot thickens. Like they say in the instructions, check continuity. Here's my jumpers 8 - 13. See 10 and 12? They show continuity. See the line in the middle of 12? That's what 10 looked like before I tested solder remover on it. Those look to be jumped from the factory that way...
