Although not the same model, My MV1ACH has IC2 in the same general location. It is marked PST7044 on the board. It may be the same component. The component has the Mitsumi "M" 535 and 7044 underneath but PST7044 is the part to search for. MV1ACH bottom

Definately possible, I did it the other way around, converted a CPS1.5 by moving all the audio compoents to make a standard one with 12mhz. The PRG1 PAL chip is different so you will need to program a new one with PRG2 data for a CPS1.5 board

Thanks mate, I just got the 1.3" screen because I was disappointed about the size of the 0.91 & 0.96 screens. I'll probably work on the design for the 1.3" this or next week I hope.
