Namco system N2 failing to boot.

Buzzing when there's little sound will be signal noise rather than an issue with the speakers themselves, you sure it's not interference from the VGA signal? Does it get louder on a bright white screen? Not really much you can do to avoid this it should just be a very quiet buzz. There's a pot...

Namco system N2 failing to boot.

Not sure if this helps at all? https://derole.co.uk/arcadedocs/Chihiro/operator/games/wm2/documentation/Wangan_Midnight_Maximum_Tune_-_2004_-_Sega.pdf Its maxi tune 1 manual for the weird 2-player EU wooden cabs we got here, wiring may well have similarities though? (Noticed a potential...

Namco system N2 failing to boot.

Check your solder joints with a magnifying glass and make sure none are cracked/dry (will be easier to see this with some kind of magnifiation), and also double check the polarity of all your caps as it wont work if you put them in backwards.

Namco system N2 failing to boot.

If you have a pc you can even live-boot linux of some kind on (avoid using windows, you wont be able to mount the partition there anyways), and it has an IDE port or you have a USB -> IDE, easy way to check is to boot into linux environment with hard disk plugged in and running, run the...

Namco system N2 failing to boot.

The machines are designed for it, os partitions are mounted as ramdisks so no writing to critical boot files is ever done to the hard drive, and hdds will automatically park their read/write heads when power is cut. Nothing to worry about 🙂

Namco system N2 failing to boot.

Did you ever figure this out? I've been through the same thing with my N2 and eventually have scavenged together 1 rock solid one (touch wood). "Boot failed..." comes up because the bios linux kernel was unable to load aeinitrd and aevmlinuz, normally caused by a dead hard drive. I'd have to...

    Sega Naomi no boot

Hi there, I have a later revision sega naomi (837-14258-02) which was previously intermittent (it often took a while to boot or didnt at all, but would eventually and then be rock solid after that). Upon investigation found the GPU fan was not spinning (apparently is the main cause of this as...

NAOMI 2/Chihiro/Triforce Card Reader Emulator (Initial D3/WMMT/Mario Kart/F-ZERO AX)

Tool is now open source! https://github.com/derole1/MT3CardTools. Theres already loads of hacked cards that were sold on ebay/facebook floating around so go wild, plus dnspy can decompile the executable with pretty spot on accuracy anyways :P Yes the keys are everything you need to decrypt from...

NAOMI 2/Chihiro/Triforce Card Reader Emulator (Initial D3/WMMT/Mario Kart/F-ZERO AX)

Hi there! Was pointed here by @whatnot. I'd be willing to upload the source to github, however need to make sure its okay to open source first (since I had others help me with certain bits). In terms of how the format works, youre pretty spot on. The reason track 1 never changes is because its...

Should Tekken 7 Fated Retribution have Screen Tearing on ES3?

Just be wary that ES3 uses bitlocker to encrypt its drive, so if you change anything you could possibly trip bitlocker and render the hdd a paperweight. (Unsure how deep bitlocker searches for config changes and/or if the hdd can be recovered by putting back the original config).
