Thanks for the Bump Bonky!.. Right now My current lead is that both my A boards are dead. The first one is definitely a sync issue the other just doesn't boot at all, so not sure what that would be.. I may have to resort to buying just a working A board.. Cuz I suspect both the B/C boards...

WOW so much info and great leads here! I will do all this. I tested the basic roms that had windows unstickered.. They were 'blank' so I reflashed them with Mame rom data in two different revisions of the board.. the other socketed roms that had stickers seemed to have correct CRC data on them...

Thanks for your reply. I dont know how to fully use an OSC scope.. i don't own a probe yet either.. Question, Can a osc scope do exactly what a probe does? (i.e. is it better to just invest a few hundred into something like a rygol rather than spend less money on just a basic probe?)

Yikes :( .. One board with SYNC issue I'm afraid is CPS 01 chip bad? Other board.. Not sure on yet.. no boot at all.. no sound.. nothing more troubleshooting neccessary.. A boards that expensive huh?

Is R like an enhanced version? It's just the program roms that change? Interesting. I guess once i replace a single rom on a cart than any collectable value is toast at that point, so why not?

Since I've never made a NEO convert/repro cart. is this a case of 'if it fits it ships' kind of thing? i.e. if the pins match and the size is big enough the chips on the cartridge aren't expecting any specific size? and I'll assume if I only have double that size I could just double up the data...

Awesome! I have an eprom writer I just got (top3002 for 99$) and your basic Eraser that does work. I've flashed a few arcade chips for other repairs i'm trying so i know everything works. What Confuses me is what chips you can and cannot use on neo carts.. I guess there is no regular style...

Are your eproms costing 50-100$? cuz that's the going rate for 'conversions' i'm seeing today.. I was going to make some of my own carts assuming it would only be 1-2 bucks per a chip.. am i grossly underestimating?
