    I re-installed the original roms and mcu because I built a FD1094 programmer. Board seems to be stalled however. A lot of the ram on the right side of the board gets concerningly hot while running; looks like I have a ton of sockets in my future.

    It lives. I had a helluva time trying to find a mame image that would work and convert it for the gotek. Using the default ribbon that came with the board will give a ribbon error on the gotek for some reason. I am using the gotek with a ribbon from a pc for now. Old drive still won't work...

    Swapped the u115 from another board and no change. The socket on the board looks ok but may consider replacing with a new socket.

    Okay so, I found a solution. The controls are disconnected from main power and wont work without feeding 5v and ground separately. Connecting the 5v and gnd on the center 12pin connector seems to work. No pinout guides online seem to mention this. pic for future reference

    So I built a jamma to system x converter to test some afterburner boards on my rig and they work ok but I can't use test mode or get any input for that matter. The test button works in the cab. Probing the filter board directly seems to do nothing.

    Is it a dumb idea to remove the socket and solder the chip to the board? I noticed mortal kombat 1 does not have a socket on its u99. Is there any way a bad ram trace can cause this error?

    The history of the board is unknown, but the FD1094 was trashed and the board is in good condition. I will need de-suicide regardless. I guess I will have to break out the oscilloscope and start testing parts.

    I have a Magic Sword PCB that runs fine but has distorted graphics. Issue is isolated to B or C board and not A board custom. I reflowed the C board, and no change. Isn't CPS1 palette ram located on the A board? Any ideas on what to check?
