Hello guys, I need your help, I have the oportunity to get an Astrocity cab in my country, that is a miracle.

Anyway, the astrocity 1 cab has a monitor with apparently good colors, but there is a vertical bow in the bottom corners.

The astrocity 2 cab, has a monitor with better geometry but the colors look kinda funny, like a yellow or green tint.

I will be recapping the cab I buy, but i was wondering which monitor do you recommend me to buy, here are some pics, I'm sorry for the quality, but that's all I have

Which problem do you think is easier to address.

Thank you so much!

Check if the colours aren't just bad calibration? I would prefer the one with better geometry, especially if the colors are just due to bad calibration or something that might be fixable. But you'd have to look more into it. And the one with the least burnings. The "bow" that you talk about, I guess you mean the geometry? It might also be something you could calibrate away. I know, I am not helpful at all :D But if it is local go there with something like the 240p test suite and ask if you can look at things and test it out

Yeah, sadly I can't go locally, and the seller doesn't know anything about that...is a risk, obviously, and I'm willing to take it...but I would like to know your opinions before I make a decision.

Dloop, thank you so much for your input!

If it’s an Astro City 2, grab it and get the monitor/chassis repaired perhaps. It’s a very rare cabinet.

All things being equal the New Astro City has a better monitor in most people's minds. Fixing color issues is easier than fixing geometry too, generally speaking.

The thing is, is it possible to "fix" that yellow tint using the rgb gains, cut offs, etc? or could that yellow tint be a bigger problem and the tube is dying?

It is possible, but only if the problem is misadjustment. If it needs a cap kit (likely) that may improve color as well. Ultimately if it's such a rare thing in your country and they are both working to this degree where you can't easily pick one, buy both. Fixing both cabinets has a few outcomes: combine parts to make the best, have one for vertical games, or flip one to offset the cost of your own.

No problem at all, I'm from Colombia, South America.

I've seen some candy korean cabs in my country, but no Astro City, in fact, these particular cabs, come from Ecuador (near the border). so...yeah...kinda rare around here.

The last pic you showed make it seem like they are in really good shape too :) Congrats on the purchase!

Hello guys, I just wanted to report that the first cab arrived, super excited, is in great condition, now I'll have to clean it up good, order some caps and recap it, order some buttons, replace the speakers, etc, it's gonna be a project for this year.

But I have a question regarding the monitor and color calibration, when I tested the color pattern in a CPS2, I noticed that not all the spectrum of the blue color was visible ( photo attached) in the remote of the monitor, I can adjust only the gains, contrast and brightness.

Do you think is it possible to "gain" a little more of that blue spectrum, using the Cuttoffs pots in the chassis? I'll be using the https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/How_to_Correctly_Set_Up_Monitor_Colours_and_Brightness and http://www.emphatic.se/?p=710 , guides in the future (when I replace the caps, and dismantle the monitor), But I would like to hear that the experts around here think.

Once again, thank you so much for your input!

You need to turn up the blue cutoff and turn down the green one. All three colors and white should go dark between one and two.

I wouldn't do much calibrating now before you do the cap kit, otherwise you'll need to calibrate again. But @nem is right you need to adjust the gain and bias/cutoff controls on the neck board.

More than likely it will be a Nanao, so gains will be on the remote and cutoffs on the chassis.

Hello guys, it's been a while.

I want to share with you my experiences with my New Astrocity.

I've been very busy with work, and some other stuff, and I managed to do some work on the cab, I've replaced the joysticks with sanwa sticks, same with the buttons (need to change the start buttons ), I recapped the PSU, the stereo amplifier, and finally last weekend, I recapped the Nanao ms9, calibrated the colors, and replaced the marquee light.

I'm *VERY* happy with the results, it's a gorgeus cab, and the monitor improved *A LOT*, I'm attaching some pictures, taken with my shitty phone.

There is a ¿minor? (hopefully) problem though. When turning the cab ON for the first time (for example, the next day) there is a problem with the horizontal side of the screen, it's like a chunk of the the screen is "curved" or missing, it fixes itself in about 40-50 seconds, and after that no more problems whatsoever, it's hard for me to explain it so I uploaded a video for you to see (sorry for the bad quality, but you can see the issue).

Anyway, I'm really happy with my cab now, and would would appreciate any advice regarding the horizontal problem.

Thanks!!
