What's new
With everyone I've spoken to about this PCB, everyone is still 50/50 on if it requires a JVS board or is Jamma acceptable. If JVS only, is there a reliable source where I can obtain 3?
I saw Twistedquarter has 3 different 200w PSUs, are there any notable differences?
Side note, the final goal is to turn this into a tabletop cab, so the smaller/lighter/less parts the better.

Some 200w PSUs have 3.3v or -5v wires on them. Since the 246 only requires 5v and 12v, get that version if you want me to make you a custom connector or the -5v version if you want to use a JAMMA harness that has the 9 pin molex connector. The only games that will boot without an I/O pcb present is Time Crisis 3/4 and Cobra the Arcade. All others will not boot and will result in a black screen or a “JVS MASTER NOT FOUND” I/O error. The I/O pcb is absolutely required. Since this is a JVS system, “almost any compatible JVS I/O board will work” you can try to find a small I/O pcb or just stick with the one you have just make sure to have the ribbon cable connected. You can’t bypass this. I don’t think PlayStation controllers will work but I haven’t tried Zoids though.

Hang on, just so I'm clearly understanding this. The Jamma boards I have WILL work? Not necessarily a branded "JVS" board? As I've seen those to be totally different boards, and some connect via USB.

The partial vagueness of direct answers I find between research and people trying to help, have been getting confusing.

Also doesn't help that the few people on forums who have owned this game are MIA when messaged.

They should but I found this information which I’m not so sure about:”Button configuration is not standard JVS, Coin Meter 1 must be wired on JVS harness to function”. Not sure if the JAMMA pcb will work but if it’s strictly JVS, then you may need to find a JVS I/O pcb. I’m not sure which one will work. Try the JAMMA pcbs again, this time with the ribbon cable connected and see if the game boots and if it’s playable with the JAMMA harness buttons. The information I found is here but it’s a bit outdated:https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Namco_System_246/256

That's the same information I came across.
Already tried with the ribbon cable attached, no change.

That’s strange, I guess it does need some sort of JVS pcb and have coin meter 1 wired up to boot? I’m actually stumped. I’m actually out of ideas. Do you happen to have a copy of the manual so I can analyze it? I will try to find one online if I can.

Check the photos of the cab assembly manual and wiring diagram I posted, I did not snap a photo of the assembly with the JVS board but I assume that the wiring diagram should be enough relevant information to work from.
I know in the assembly the JVS board connects via USB.

I was about to ask about that, if the manual has a schematic wiring page. I just realized that it’s a Taito game. They are notorious for having specific JVS I/O pcbs like battle gear 3 which requires a specific Taito driving pcb. I checked the schematic page you provided but it’s a real bummer that they only put “JVS pcb”. It could also be a Namco V291 FCA pcb as the layout looks oddly similar. I also realized that JAMMA will not work as this game seems to use two analog type joysticks. I’m not too familiar with this game so take everything I say with a grain of salt.

If you can take a better picture of the schematic diagram so I can take a better look, that would be great.

Clean the pins of the dongle sometimes it is very dirty, or is it the right dongle for that hdd?

Put another dongle like soul calibur 2 or 3 change the hdd drive to the dvd rom drive and put the rom disc of the sc2/3

Then boot it, if it boots then it's all good

It also seems to be a custom arduino JVS solution. Called IONA JVS project.

Yes it's been cleaned, that was one of the first things I tried.
You say all that as if one conveniently has all those game drives/dongles on hand.

Ok, I found this from a twitter post. I think it’s from @defor who has more knowledge about this systems than I do. It seems to look like a Sega Naomi JVS jamma pcb and some extra parts. You can try to contact him here but he rarely logs on. Best bet for contacting him is from that twitter post: https://mobile.twitter.com/defor/status/1148739494591512576
Magnificent! He's using the exact controller plan on using. Thanks! I'll poke him there.

Ok, I took a closer look at the post and it looks like he got rid of the whole JAMMA harness solution and used that arduino solution instead. Very convenient and compact.

Put a a electric tape stip in jamma edge to cover 25&26 and the back of it will cover it, i think that is the culprit, those chamma is a killer

Awesome! You may need to mod the controller though. He’s your best bet for helping you set up that cool game! :)
I don't mind modding the controller, looks like the sticks are wired to a microboard. No different from my previous project, a tabletop cab using an Original Xbox and an X-arcade trimode board.

I don't fully understand what you are trying to convey here.
If you read above, we've already found an overall better solution.

(I'm horrible) havent stopped by here in a while (anxiety issues) - I owe a lot of people a lot of info...Varga reached out to me on twitter, and I'm going to cobble together a how-to for the IO half of this.
