Looking to buy a monitor for my Sega Blast City that came empty without one. Located in Southern California.

Awesome! Thank you for the info, now I can continue on my search for the correct monitor.
 
If you take a pic of your remote board inside the control panel, you can pretty much tell which chassis you'll need.

If it's just 3 buttons - 2931

If it's one with pots and dip switches to go from 15/24/31khz then it's the 2930.

This Blast City i got came with no monitor in it. Tried it out with a monitor not sized for it and the cab is fully functional. Just need a monitor for it.

A MS-9 will fit in a Blast City. The issue is the bezel. You have to kind of back mount the monitor to the frame and use some washers. This helps the monitor sit deeper into the cab. The bezel will then pop into place. Other than that yea the MS-9 tube has much more curvature to it than the 2930. MS-9s seem to be a lot more plentiful than the tri sync monitors. Probably a lot more stable too to be honest. You can always run hi res games through a converter such as the Capcom I/O. 2D games will look ok but the 3D games don’t look all that well unfortunately.

Oh yea and you will need a 2930/31 frame to swap the monitor over to.

Capcom IO doesn't do anything to the video signal except amplify it.

All older JVS hardware will still output 15khz, including Naomi, System 2X6 and Taito Type X1.
