Why did Kasaski’s CV1000 thread get locked?

There is no legal basis to serve the site admins with a C&D. I realize that C&Ds can be sent with zero legal basis whatsoever, but in this case, who would they even send it to? I don't even think CAVE has any kind of presence in the US and thus wouldn't have jurisdiction if they actually tried to follow through on any legal action, unless the thinking here is that a certain CAVE licensee went after the only site admin that is based in the US...

To be clear, I Am Not A Lawyer, but I do occasionally play one on television. ;)

Regardless, the fact that these threads are continually locked without explanation is troubling.

I think it's best if kasaki and the admins get to clear out whatever it is in private instead of grabbing the pitchforks :) But I understand as we all are very interested in this kit, and want any news we can get :)
 
Perhaps there's a Darksoft multi coming and they don't want a competitor being promoted in their forum? But they're not ready to announce it, so stealth locking.

It's one of the quirks of this place—which I totally appreciate existing—it's built around products they understandably don't want undermined.

Regardless, lack of information always leads to speculation. I'm in favor of transparency.

Yes and no. A publicly available CV1000 makes no difference to me personally. I am fortunate enough to have the actual PCBs of the games I enjoy playing.
And it's not as if one locked thread would keep a project from making progress as long as the people working on it remain interested. If someone wants to release something they will for sure find a way and it will pop up somewhere on the internet.

What IS a vested interest to me, one of the more interesting topics on the forum going poof without any indication of fighting or breaking of the rules etc. It makes me wonder what will happen to the next person who works really hard on something cool. Does it get close to the finish line just go poof too? How many times can that happen before enough people get chased away or lose interest and AP becomes primarily a marketplace and tech support ?

I am sure there is a good reason for locking replies. All of us will wait patiently until the people involved hash it all out.

Not the case here. If there was a competing product then that would be the rule that was broken as that is a rule we clearly state. However that rule was not broken.

Look. Bottom line is the mods here have agreed we simply just DO NOT WANT to host certain info. Sometimes to avoid drama. Sometimes to avoid potential legal issues. And sometimes because we just don't want to be associated with that kind of info. For example we do not allow in-depth discussions on hacking ANY PC based hardware. We allow discussions on using multis for those systems but not how to do the hacking to make the actual multi. That's the concession we made for PC hardware threads.

Another decision we made long ago was to restrict talk about CAVE products. We don't support the bootleg pcbs and deleted all info referring to that. We don't allow info on converting original pcbs either. And we won't allow sales of a CAVE multi on our site. This was decided years ago. The time of fruition has just come now.

So with that said and as mentioned before we are working on a solution that is good for Kasaki and within the standards we set for ourselves years ago regarding CAVE.

When you get your multis in the future feel free to post pics etc. here. I'm interested as well. But support and sales won't be allowed here. Sounds like Kasaki already had plans in his head so I expect we will announce the solution sooner rather than later.
