Here's an all time classic I brought back: Double Dragon. It also happens to be in one of the best and most versatile arcade cabinets to have ever been released, the Taito universal cabinet, which is mostly associated with Double Dragon. Why is it so great?
-the cabinet is ultra light weight like a Nintendo cabinet and uses the same width t-molding
-the cabinet has wheels
-the monitor is able to be easily rotated from horizontal to vertical all from the front
-there is a drawer that opens at the bottom where you can easily swap game boards
-the control panel is wood so it is easy to make additional control panels to work with a wide variety of games
And specific to Double Dragon, it has one of the best music themes of any arcade game.
Here are various photo in the restoration process. Initially this cabinet had been converted to a one slot Neo Geo game, but with some fortune I was able to find an excellent condition original Double Dragon control panel and an original monitor bezel and marquee too. Other new old stock parts were used as well. Only the side art on this cabinet is something that is reproduction. The burnt original tube was swapped from a TV. Because Double Dragon has a naturally narrow image, I also installed wires to width cap and made plugs so I can change the width cap from the coin door so that Double Dragon will take up the full screen and when I change the PCB other games will run full screen as well.
The game has both Double Dragon and Double Dragon II PCBs available to play as well as WWF Superstars and Wrestlefest Technos games as they seemed fitting. Occasionally I'll run other games too.
