🎮 International Arcade League – Join the High Score Community!

We are launching a new association for arcade enthusiasts, open to:

  • Clubs and associations
  • Arcade venue operators
  • Private collectors with arcade hardware

🕹️ Our goal:

To build an international arcade league featuring:

  • Automatic high score tracking
  • A centralized online leaderboard
  • Tournaments, challenges, and community events

🔧 How it works:

  • Members receive a ready-to-use HDD image (for real arcade machines or emulators)
including a script that automatically uploads high scores to our central database.
  • All scores are publicly visible on our website, sortable by game, region, time, and venue.

✅ Member benefits:

  • Be part of an international high score community
  • Access to official images and tools
  • Technical support for setup
  • Visibility for your club or location on the platform
  • Option to organize your own events or challenges

🚀 Next Step:

We are currently looking for founding members of the association.
If you run an arcade, represent a club, or own hardware at home – we’d love to hear from you!

A non-binding message of interest is enough – we’ll follow up with more info.

So I understand the need for original hardware, not every game plays well in mame, some games have glitches in mame that the original doesn't have giving an unfair avantage, see the famous billy mitchel case.

I'd still be in favour to offer automatic scoring into the database based on mame though. What i could see myself doing is making official IAL TOURNAMENTS original hardware only and manual scoring.. You could have a proper scoring system like the pinball folks have in their league. For all i care if someone wants to host an IAL tournamen he coul even offer foosball and whatnot if that's what they have at their venue. Only necesity being a member in the IAL to make sure someone is overrseeing the scores and is taking respnsiblity for correctness. typing up pictures of crt screens is not an option if you ask me

So guys I think what I need to do here is actually have a working proof of concept and a website available with all the info. I've found that it's hard to convince people for something like this if it's nothing more than an idea, I will need some substance behind it.

I don't want to be the "sole dictator" who gets to decide on everything from the get go, I just want to play my part in ensuring you guys I can handle the technical part, so you can feel more comfortable backing this idea. I might need a bit of time to prepare everything but I will report back with a POC and some more info on how I'm thinking to handle the technical part.
