Hi, having an odd issue with a NAOMI. I get no boot, black screen, no sound, but have gone through all the usual steps.

Voltage is spot on and is coming from a sun psu
Swapped it into the same power setup as a working NAOMI, no dice
Swapped in the confirmed working bios from that
Supercap has been replaced
Fans both run just fine
ICs are also getting proper voltage on the main board

If anybody has any leads for me I mightve missed at this point please let me know!

Have you tried a cart game? I've got a naomi that pry needs a recap as it refuses the netdimm until its warm. Black screen of doom otherwise.

I haven't yet actually, I figured since I haven't gotten to even the NAOMI splash screen with nothing attached a cart wouldnt change that, but i might have to give it a regular game a shot just in case

I have a Naomi (with an E bios if this matters). Same behavior. I need a game in there or nothing boots, not the Naomi screen, not the test menu, nothing. Is this not normal?

That is not normal. They boot no matter what. When you turn it on, do you get any sync? (Meaning black screen, but it's synced)

I take back what I said I was thinking of another board.
My naomi setup been put away for a bit.
They sync. It takes a hot minute before they error though.

Sorry, I wasn't clear. When there's no game, the unit boots in that it draws power and the fans spin, but it doesn't output any audio/video (not even a Naomi splash screen) and it doesn't respond to the button that brings up the system menu.

But it boots when you have a cart in it?

That is abnormal.
Are you supplying enough voltage?
It could be a cap issue.
Unfortunately they are surface mount and my advice if you attempt is to kapton tape over the bga chips and flood the caps with chipquik.
Chipquik under bga is....death.

Memory check all good. You asked earlier about if the video was a synced black screen. I think I'm getting no signal. When there's no cart, My LCD says no signal whether the Naomi is plugged in directly to the screen or I if I'm getting video from the JAMMA edge on the IO. Video works fine both ways with a cart.

Hi all! I have Naomi that turns on, both fans run, green and red LED on, but no sound no picture :( Any ideas how to fix it?

Check this chip: 315-6145 on the Naomi when it's booting. Is it getting warm?

One of two things: Bad BGA or bad ram. To check if a BGA problem, push down on the BGAS one by one (big heatsinks) to see if it boots during pressure. If it's bad ram, it could either be the SH4 ram or the Holly ram
