Arcooda or Unico 26" ???

Hello all!!!

I cannot source a 25" Medium Res CRT for my Cruis'n USA and I am looking at pulling the trigger and going LCD. I know it's blasphemous and I'll miss the CRT but I am out of options here in NY State. Old tube was too far gone, washed out and VERY Burned in. Not to mention, it was only Standard Res so at some point it was swapped. All this time I was working on the chassis and it was really the wrong tube. Shout of to Mike at Mike's on YouTube for catching that for me.

A brief search says go with the Arcooda display, but dang, they aren't kidding on the shipping.
There seems to be many issues with the Unico to this very day...

Does anyone have input on which way I need to fly here?

Well, I don't have the money for an Arcooda, but was asking which is better, as I would start to build the war chest for one! However, a CRT would and is better in my opinion.

Let us know how it goes.

If you get this one, and it works, you can save a little, and send you're spare chassis off to chad at arcadecup, if you need help on the repair.

It's worth having a fully tested backup for monitors like that, if you can get one.

Then, if you can, put out feelers with the arcade folks in your area for a spare 7500 or Nanao 26su, and try to source yourself a backup tube as well. :D

I'm not a Facebook person, but I have a friend who is. I'll have them reach out and get the details. My spare chassis is a Pentranic dual frequency one, it works, but probably not worth saving over the WG one I would be getting. The whole monitor setup in my Cruis'n was just an abomination and the game didn't even boot when I bought it. Fixed most all of it and will restore the cabinet once I get the Monitor situation straightened out.

Just curious: What chassis do you have? Is there an issue with the chassis itself or is it working? It's probably easier (and more economical, to find a donor tube. Keep your eyes peeled for a 27" TV. Most should be drop-in replacements, yoke and all.

I picked it up Sunday morning (yesterday). It's like new and super clean. Going to recap it and them install it!

Thans Del ! Yes, I found two TV's and saved the CRT's from them. Unfortunately I need a medium res CRT. Picked up one yesterday !!!!! YAY !!!!!

I love it when this kinda stuff works out, and am SUPER happy you'll have a proper working game.

I hope that you and yours enjoy it for a long time to come!
 
TOTALLY AGREE !!!!

I'll post picks when I get it capped up and installed!!! It's from 2005 and looks like it was hardly ever used!!
