[NEWS 2026-09] TAILSNIC RETROWORKS MULTI VERSION SELECTORS THREAD

Slightly off topic but what are you using for the part that plugs into the sockets, can you buy "chip legs" for something like that somewhere? Or are these just regular pin headers (I would think these are slightly too big to plug into usual sockets though?)
They are "golden fingers". Don't think about "arduino pins", these ones are socket-designed for.

^That's exactly what I use for "socket headers" on my multis, the pins are much thinner than normal pin-headers...

normal pin headers will absolutely damage the IC sockets and over-stretch them such that they become unusable for the original ICs.

even these "golden finger" type headers are thicker pins than normal IC Pins and will losen the sockets a bit, but not so much that you can't swap back the original ICs.

That definitely seems like a better idea than pin headers, thanks! Still, it seems to be made for round sockets which I don't think are common on arcade PCBs :P

Part of the reason I asked is that I saw this repair video (unrelated to arcade stuff), and this guy is actually manufacturing IC legs in his workshop, just by flattening a round wire (relevant part at 13:38 )

I would imagine this would fit even better but you need to have the equipment :P Would be nice if you could just buy something similar somewhere.

Out Zone multi version selector added. Last 3 multis to order for the next batch are Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles 1 & 2, and The Simpsons. After them, no plans of more multis at sight.

Possibly I'll make also Night Slashers multi version selector for using on DE-0397-0 board: Korea, Japan and World.

I don't know if this multi is worth to make. If you are interested, please interact with the post with a "thumbs up" emote. I know this board is quite difficult to have today, but I can make the multi since I have the game for designing it.
