MITSU Pre-sales open!!: Namco System 1 Multi new batch

Once you get through the pre-orders, will there be any remaining units for sale?

Got my hands on the new multi, and it was well worth the wait! Installation was quick and easy. Running everything through my Retrotink4K upscaler.

So I've SMD assembled 40 units and I've decided to order the parts necessary to build out the last 10 blanks i have. So after the presales all ship ill have roughly 25 extra units. Those should last quite awhile.

Currently I am hand-soldering the 1 million pins per multi. Im doing a few a day. My back can only handle so much hand-soldering in one sitting. ;) once I get all of the presales soldered ill test the flash modules and start contacting the rest of you for shipping.

I ised you video as a guide btw @ShootTheCore 🙏thanks for this💪
(read the pdf guide before reassembling the boards too, just to make sure :) )

My pcb was a 2P Tank Force that had seen better days, it doesn't have as much eproms on it as some of the other games so I wasn't sure traces under other sockets were fine or not, also those empty sockets looked quite "black grey"/dusty after 35+ years of gathering dust and other stuff (also removing those eprom was quite hard, well stuck in there😅)

cleaned the sockets with an antistatic brush and 99% isopropyl alcohol and then WD40 "CONTACT"

when fitting the multi, I wasn't super confident in some pins that weren't 100% as deep as others (they're quite long though so it's ok), so I checked all the double pins "rows" with a multimeter in continuity mode (some other pins I wasn't 100% sure about)

turns out continuity was good everywhere, so I reassembled the bottom board, game select dip, set it to tank force 2p and fired it up, and it worked perfectly first try, then moved on to other games👍

all in all, quite the smooth experience from start (preordering) to finish, THANKS A LOT FOR DOING THIS RUN @Mitsurugi-w 🙏

I have not mentioned anywhere yet but there is a bit of a difference between the original Darksoft-sold kits and this batch of multis. For ease of manufacture I used 512Mb flashes for EVERY flash module instead of the different sizes that Darksoft used. However there are two brands of flashes: Spansion and Micron. You MUST use the Micron flashes for CHAR and Sprites(OBJ). If you do not you will have GFX glitches because the Spansion flashes are a bit too slow in those two spots.

So it’s better to labelled each flash module before removing them for programming
