Blast City monitor help - crackling, then POP.

Sounds like you have some mean arcing going on. Are you sure your anode cup and neckboard is connected correctly? My best guess is that you’ll see lots of arcing if you look at the chassis in the dark when you power on.

Nanao Ms9, with Toshiba tube, red spot issue

Looks like purity is a little off. Video below explains basic convergence and purity adjustments. Read up on CRT safety before doing these adjustments. Lots of nasty voltages you want to avoid. He talks about purity around 3 minutes inn. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=faZiB7xZylU

Monitor Convergence issues - Sega Astro City

Found this picture of a MS9 yoke. Ignore the blue arrow, but I marked some of the magnets in red. If you are missing some magnets in the corner with convergence issues, you may have found your problem.

Monitor Convergence issues - Sega Astro City

Not sure what you mean, but if you adjust the second set of rings so they converge with the green, those dots should turn white. Convergence rings for 95% of the screen. Convergence strips for the corners. This video shows the process nicely. View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxOvYVcN1fc

Monitor Convergence issues - Sega Astro City

Yup. Adjusting the convergence rings will fix this. The second and third rings (If you look from the neckboard up to the yoke) will adjust blue and red so they converge with green.

    Toshiba D29C456 "SB" Monitor Info?

I have worked on a couple of these before. Was installed in Mario Kart GP 2. PE0493 is a tri-sync chassis. Arcade otaku wiki has some info on it, but it’s basically the same chassis as the PD1843 used in a lot of Sega New Net Citys. The PE0493 has the geometry pots on the chassis, but you can...

CRT is flickering at bright scenes

Could be a voltage regulator issue. I would also check if your B+ is set correctly and also check if C42 is going bad. Here’s some good pointers on MTC9000. http://www.swallowam.co.uk/monitor.php

Single Vertical Line on Astro Monitor

Not possible to tell based on pictures, but…. It’s a MS9 chassis and they are getting old. 30+ year of service means that it could use some love and TLC. Turning the screen pot down will make your image much better. Won’t fix the problem, but will look much better. Yes. Heres a ok video...

Single Vertical Line on Astro Monitor

If it’s a MS9, it due for a recap. Post a picture here of the chassis and we will confirm. The vertical line you se is due to capacitors in the vertical section of the chassis that are out of spec. New capacitors of good quality will fix your issues, but I recommend you do the whole chassis...
