For the MAME stuff, go into mame.ini and set lowlatency =1. Makes a big difference IMHO.

I never fully solved it. Some games simply won't consistently boot without re-flashing. However, if none of your games ever reload, you need to check your 4 key-writing wires. You probably have a bad solder joint on one or more of them. I did, and it helped after repair.

Thanks for the reply. My Neo Candy 29 with the GMK chassis definitely has some sort of ABL happening, but I could never figure out why. If anyone has insight, I'd be grateful.

It sounds to me like a dead or damaged z80. Could be wrong.

Maybe check continuity between the 68K, Z80, and sound rom? If you have a rom checker, verify the sound rom, and see if the Z80 is alive? There's a basic block diagram to guide you here.

Bump. Tried to see if anything gets hot to the touch after a few minutes. Nothing really. BGSB1 and 2 (PALs) get the warmest, but I wouldn't say hot. Any leads would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any thoughts on this one? B-Board is clean, no damage. A-board is working. All ROMs verified. Burned new PAL-G. Trying to use Phoenix set, but tried Avalaunch as well, same thing. Jumpers are correct and verified continuity.

Final update: I tracked down a QSB board from a forum member. Yesterday I patched the via, installed the QSB, and it works great to flash and run games. I checked to see if the game would boot this morning, and it fails on first boot, but works on second boot, same as before. Maybe you're right...

Instead of jumping and re-padding, could I use one of these, assuming I can find one? It looks like the adjacent J4 connector has a pin that attaches to the location in question on the ARM chip.
