Just to follow up - @rewrite took care of me. The carts seem to work well. Thanks @rewrite.

I did a little more testing. There are 4 Actels on the board. I tested with each of them removed (1 missing at a time). 3 of the 4 being missing resulted in the board not booting. 1 of them didn't impact the performance at all. That leads me to believe that it's something related to that Actel.

I loaded the game in mame and I understand what's going with the "slideshow". They are the backgrounds that would be displayed if everything was working correctly. Coin insert is working and the game is technically starting but the foreground layer is missing. As well as the sound.

I did try pressing on the ICs while it was running. I didn't see any change at all. I also physically inspected the board with a magnifying glass and I don't see anything wrong with it.

I purchased a puzzloop Bootleg. It worked when seller shipped it. When I power it on the PCB boots to what appears to be a background slide show. The slide show contains some animated scenes. There is no audio and the controls don't SEEM to do anything. It's hard to tell if they sometimes...

I just wanted to add that many boards do require -5v. -5v is usually for the sound.

I never had any issues with the regular 161 in 1. Unless there's something I'm unaware of. I have banana carts. It works fine as far as I can tell with the vortex cart. It definitely saves my progress.

I looked at it some more and 3.11 is an old version. Perhaps there is some compatibility issue with that version.

I'm guessing you are playing on AES? That is how it works on AES. With MVS you need a special version of unibios that will allow you to return to the menu. Holding start will not return to the menu like it does with the regular 161 in 1 cart.

You need a special unibios to get back to the menu. The link is a few pages back.

I wonder why. I've used the other versions on lots of mv1b PCBs. I think I have an AliExpress clone of this board on one of my mv1b's right now.
