Crusty Astro City restore- work in progress

Awesome work so far! If you haven't already, try using a heavy degreaser (Purple Power or any equivalent) on the smoke/nicotine stains. It should easily melt that crud right off of most surfaces. That was something I wish I knew early on when I was going to town on my cab with stuff like Magic...

    IGS PGM English Patch Index

Good to know. I briefly searched online and wasn't able to figure it out. I know that SvG carts tend to be more desirable vs PCB due to gameplay/balance differences and wasn't sure if the same thing applied to Demon Front. I guess it would matter a bit less since it isn't a competitive fighting...

    IGS PGM English Patch Index

Question for Demon Front: What are the differences between the cart and stand alone PCB versions? The cart seems to command a much higher price in comparison, especially now when you consider that you can language patch the PCB version.

    JAMMA question

There's no difference from the perspective of JAMMA as a standard. Nothing will change in terms of wiring. The choice is related to which connector (Hirose, or Future brand) you would like to choose. Generally, the Japanese Hirose connectors are considered higher quality and more expensive...

Ideal PC cases for Arcade PCs

I recently saw this matx case which is smaller than a TTX3 case in all 3 comparable dimensions. https://www.amazon.com/Micro-ATX-Tower-Flow%EF%BC%8CMicro-ATX-Audio-Green/dp/B0CHPRKW18?th=1 It's not as small or as well built as the BK623, but it's also much cheaper at <$35 shipped.

Just picked up a MAS Systems Supernova in excellent condition..

The photos aren't very clear so I can't see much, and I'm sure others who are better informed that I am can correct me. Your voltages for 5V -5V and 12V are probably fine. -5V is rarely used and typically for sound (Rastan, and Midway boards). 12V is usually for coin counter and also for sound...

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

I've been in communication with Unico's support through email, and they told me that my LVDS cable seemed to be a one off mistake. They also said that they were willing to replace the monitor if I was still under warranty, which technically I am not since the monitor was delivered to me on...

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

From that viewpoint unless you NEED the display to be physically large 4:3 aspect ratio, there's honestly not much reason to choose this display over something like a modern gaming monitor. When considering the aspect ratio and size, the ULM26 is in a class of it's own, and it even has pretty...

Newbie in Ohio - Looking for Guidance on Arcade Machine Troubles - Raspberry Pi Issues & PC Conversion Help

Welcome! While there are some posts here and there regarding emulation, the vast majority of discussion in Arcade Projects is focused on original hardware (both in terms of arcade boards and arcade cabinets), so it may be difficult to get a lot of help here in comparison to other forums...

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

Good to know. Your board does the same thing as mine. Not the end of the world since most arcade hardware I can think of will output both 480i and 480p, but it will be annoying for consoles since there are plenty of 480i games, or games that switch inbetween interlace and progressive video.

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

I would appreciate that. You probably wouldn't need to wait for hours. The image becomes instantly garbled the moment I try an interlaced signal. It happened with 2 different sources, which was my MiSTer (PS1), and my Time Sleuth.

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

Has anyone else tried interlaced signals though the VGA/D-sub15 port of this monitor? It would be good to know if the new display board isn't able to do 480i on VGA, or if the problem is unique to my monitor, especially since it seems my installation wasn't plug and play like it was for others...

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

Some initial thoughts: - Installation was annoying. On my original PCB, Pin #6 on the LVDS was cut, and the Dupont housing blocked this pin off. I ended up using a micro drill bit to cut a hole into the Dupont housing, since cutting Pin #6 on the new PCB would be really difficult due to it's...

    Unico phoenix monitors - Opinions?

Did you need to cut a pin to install the board? On my monitor pin 6 on the LVDS was cut. I cant fit the socket onto the LVDS on the new PCB because pin 6 for that board wasnt cut

Mine supposedly arrives today, but I have my doubts since tracking indicates that it was delivered to the Bakersfield USPS postal office... which is about 140 miles or so from where I live. If it does actually show up, then I'll probably play around with it and see if there's any noticeable...

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Very nice! That eBay listing has a minimum quantity of 3. Were you able to order 3 different labels, or did they have to be 3 of the same? I can think of a few different MVS carts on hand that I want to have new labels for.

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Ah gotcha. I didn't really follow the process of the creation of this cart, so I didn't know this was the case. At the very least the Jae Hoon freeze glitch seems to have been fixed. That was the first thing we tested, and that confused me when it didn't just insta-crash the game.

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Small update. Unfortunately the version of Garou on the cart is a prototype version. The easiest way to tell is the title screen based on this website https://rq87.flyingomelette.com/RQ/PP/MOTW/1.html some other things that indicated a prototype version when we played it: - music stops playing...

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Up and running! It may have taken longer than expected, but I'm still pretty happy with the conclusion. My initial impressions on the cart itself are positive. There's some very minor label wear, but I probably want that replaced anyways. The games seem to run well from the very limited play...

    Interest Check: Pre-made upgraded 161-in-1 multicarts - All spots filled - 11/13 : WAITLIST

Mine should arrive before I get home from work. I'll briefly test it when it's in my hands, but I'm really looking forward to how well the games play compared to real carts. On my next gathering I'll have some competitive KoF and MotW players give them a shot to look for timing differences...
