so how many total of each rom will we need? I'm a budget hobbyist I need to plan ahead for these things.

I started at the PSU and the ISO, both are outputting correctly. The bridge rectifier trsts ok. 130v rectifier amd HOT test ok, mosfet is ok. No ESR meter but the caps all check ok capacitance wise. I'm at a loss as to why the fuse keeps blowing as if there's a short but since this is a cold...

So as I understand it, all you did was turn up the flyback to get rid of the whine and shutdown? My 29su is in the same situation as yours. Recapped psu, chassis came back from the shop with the whine/shutdown issue. I'll try disconnecting the H or V deflection lines and see if I get a change.

I wish someone had an answer for you I could use the help as well, mine almost does the same thing. However, all I get is the initial static, a whine, and then shutdown followed by a chirp a few minutes later.

Glad to see this thread is alive and well, I just picked up a CPS3 but the disk drive is broken. Unfortunately everywhere seems to be OOS for scsi2sd of any revision so the timing isn't very good. Looks like there are alternatives but caveats aside they aren't yet ideal? is that what I gather...
