    Another A-board failure, assistance requested!

Measuring voltage at the PAL pin 20 on the B board, I get exactly 5v on one setup and 4.77v on another (voltage drop due to some stuff between the board and the JAMMA like auto-fire etc). Both within operating range, both producing the same results. It does look like the CPS-A-01 is fubar.

    Another A-board failure, assistance requested!

Voltages should be OK, as the board worked with the same cabinet and super guns a week ago. But I'll give it a check (definitely lower than 5.1v).

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

Replaced the z80, and not have no picture... must have mucked somthing up. Will try again later. Edit: And later came. Reflowed the solder, and it's working now. At least as well as it has been. Still no sound. So, not the z80!

Final Fight - very dark picture strange colors

Looks like you're missing some color channels.... I did happen across a repair log that includes correcting a similar issue (they were missing red, I think you're missing red and green). https://www.jammarcade.net/capcom-cps1-street-fighter-2-ce-repair-log/

    Another A-board failure, assistance requested!

Well that blows. I guess it’s just been a bad month for my CPS1 boards. I guess I could try moving the custom chip from the 12mhz board with bad audio to the now failed 10mhz board, but smd soldering is not my strongest skill set. Think I’ll keep trying to fix the Chinese kludge sound...

    Another A-board failure, assistance requested!

I had spent some time, socketing and moving around some of the oscillating crystals trying to diagnose a kludged together 12mhz A-board. I had temporarily removed the 68k and z80 crystals from a known working board. I put in some sockets for them, put them back when I was done and everything...

    QNIC CGM-2500 replacement flyback?

Recapping and retuning my QNIC CGM-2500, picture is fairly dim in addition to having color balance issues. Thinking I may want to replace the flyback while I'm in there, but can't find any online... anyone have a source or know of a third party replacement option?

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

I am increasingly flummoxed by the diode on the Yamaha clone. It's where a capacitor should be according to the screen and it drops the voltage to the 5v pin down to close to 4. I just don't understand what it's doing there... looking over the diagrams, shows neither capacitor nor diode. The...

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

In my case, I'm 100% ~80% sure it's the 'A' board. No graphics issues on the 12mhz board it came with, but no sound. If I put the multi B+C boards onto a good 10mhz board, I get sound but bad graphics. So the ROMs are good, between the two 'A' boards I can confirm that I have good graphics and...

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

Could also be the line driver (LS367A) it's clearly been replaced, poorly, at some point. Lot's of nasty flux residue and the pins are not properly lined up. I don't see anything under my lil' inspection scope. But that doesn't mean the pins are making proper contact.

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

Sourced a YM2151, having problems finding a YM3012 on this side of the planet. Also think I have a Z80a around here somewhere. Will try "piggybacking" the Yamaha chips, think I would need to remove and replace the Z80.

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

Swapped the 3.579545mhz crystals between the two boards, that’s not the failure point. Despite being unlabeled the crystal from the bad board seems to work in the good one and the bad boards issues are not resolved by changing out the crystal. Down to thinking it’s the Yamaha or z80.

    CPS A-Board Differences

Yup, realizing I was misunderstanding the crystal upgrade conversations. Ah wells. Guess I have to figure out how to fix the old board. Thinking it’s the z80 crystal so the process hasn’t been a total loss (assuming I’m correct).

    CPS A-Board Differences

Old board with no sound is a 12mhz 6800 while the one I swapped the crystal on is 10mhz. Not sure but the old board may have had the CPU replaced.

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

The story so far. Many years ago, when I was young and foolish I picked up a CPS1 32-in-1 board from China. It frankly worked really well for quite some time. But recently it started to have audio issues (thinking it's the z80). I pulled it apart, and found a large number of questionable...

    CPS A-Board Differences

So put in a socket, and tried a 12mhz crystal with mixed results. On my Chinese 32-in-1 board, I am getting corrupted graphics which I had previously put down to running at 10mhz. With my SF2 WW B+C it runs, but the graphics are a little jittery. So I'm thinking that I have compatibility issues...

    CPS A-Board Differences

Not the cleanest desoldering job, but all pads are intact (working on these old PCBs stresses me out). Kind of interesting, there are pads for multiple possible crystal configurations and the screening lists three different part numbers. I'll be trying to put in a socket so that I can swap out...

    Chinese CPS1 32 in 1 board troubleshooting?

@AlxUnderBase related question: Does your board have kick harness connectors? I have two that look like CPS1 kick connectors, but I'm really not sure what they do so I've never wired anything up to them...

Very shiny, I know I'll buy one and try to justify the cost later.
