    SFIII 2nd Impact NoCD

are you sure it's true for SFIII 2nd? which by design use not encrypted game program SIMMs = no need to modify them = checksum should be OK

false what exactly? yes, I'm aware of CF vendor check is in firmware.asic

    Random Chihiro Type-3 Info Thread

you've been already told - firmware programmed inside of ASIC (NEC V850 CPU with flash), and there is no known ways to manually reprogram it. for sure there should be the way to (re)program it, for case when new PCB was manufactured at factory and ASIC have no any firmware yet. but, it's...

    Random Chihiro Type-3 Info Thread

@telmnstr media board firmware is inside of large Sega ASIC, there is no known to me way somehow manually reprogram it. TSOP flash ROM iirc is segaboot. that's the code which shows you test mode screens, and it's fine if you see them.

One-stop place with all NAOMI game unlock codes and passwords ?

I see, missed this one. it looks like both codes works. there is no clear confirmation, simply hold the buttons until capcom logo. I'm wondering why you cant check this by yourself running this game on Naomi or in some emulator...

NAOMI 2/Chihiro/Triforce Card Reader Emulator (Initial D3/WMMT/Mario Kart/F-ZERO AX)

TLDR: AR protocol differs from BR with one status byte, in BR it's binary value while in AR it's ASCII digit iirc someone already did 1231AR simulator for some other game, but I can't remember which one it was

naomi cf reader error 24 gdrom not found with net dimm

3.17 firmware doesn't supports CF cards, this feature was added in 4.01 update yes, you should netboot "4.02" firmware update (hack of 4.01 with removed CF card vendor check/protection).

Sega Normal Non NET Dimm Upgraded to 4.02 - Problems....

I think it should work, I'd guess idc didn't cooked proper 256-byte XXX.BIN file, with same XXX as text in PIC key, and checksum of decrypted game binary

Sega Normal Non NET Dimm Upgraded to 4.02 - Problems....

so called "4.02" hack is official 4.01 firmware with removed CF card vendor check and protection, just a few byte patch. it change nothing in other parts, including GD-ROM boot.

    Cave CV1000-D bootlegs a hoy

np, welcome it is common issue with many other arcade platforms/games as well, so even if sound chip(s) emulation (nearly) perfect it sounds quite different compared to real thing. modern MAME attempts to simulate that, but for quite small number of games, where is mostly simple RC-filters. as...

    Cave CV1000-D bootlegs a hoy

there is no issues with YMZ770 emulation, but missing analogue part simulation (amplifier with low pass filter), which hides how awful sound quality in CV1K games. simply configure low pass in your sound card driver (or install some 3rd party tool) and you'll get about same result as real PCB.

How to convert the Naomi 171-7978b cartridge?

almost anything possible, in theory, "it's just" matter of time and work for MVC2 you may use this IC11 ROM https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/mvc2-cart-rom-board-test.32269/#post-447742 and the rest of data ROM dumps from MAME set

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

no problem, welcome PS: and also thanks to you now we know MvC2 program ROM for 171-7919A(M2) type carts works fine on Actel-type carts

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

I was talking about reading EPROM which is in your cartridge, socketed one, then edit data adding checksums to game header area, and them program to another or same EPROM this way you'll get at least BIOS ROM TEST list with some ROMs on screen it's also not ic22 but ic11 in this type carts ;)

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

it may not work after this. I suppose there was a reason why cart was programmed with this ROM (something broken in protection/decryption part?) however it may be not bad idea to read program EPROM, "paste" to game header checksums for Actel-type carts and program it back. I may provide...

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

@mR_CaESaR then my 1st guess was right - program EEPROM in your cart programmed with MvC2 version for 171-7919A type cartridges, which don't have ROMs checksums for Actel-type cart in game header (as result you see empty ROM TEST screen in BIOS) and missing "ROM BOARD TEST" option in game test...

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

thanks, this is indeed original MvC2 PCB, Actel type, with original for this game Actel FPGA no, I meant go to GAME TEST MODE at your photo, and check if it have "ROM BOARD TEST" option

    MVC2 Cart ROM Board Test

which type is your MvC2 cart(s) ? there exists 2 PCB types. it would be nice to see PCB photo does your games have "rom board test" option in game test mode? which BIOS version is in your Naomi ? in general, I'd imagine your cart is 171-7978B (Actel) type, but currently it have program EEPROM...
