On @TodoRojo pic the connector is soldered to the top of the board (parts side) On your photos it looks like you’ve soldered to the underside (solder side). That would be the issue I reckon… hopefully no permanent damage has been done to the multi or your donor.

Is the orientation of the connector and cable right? Sounds like power went somewhere it shouldn’t. Smoke isn’t a good sign. Perhaps check with other people who have done that mod for the case?

Send it back and get a replacement. Your programmer is probably broken or your computer isn’t compatible. Posting about it constantly on the forum numerous times a day isn’t going to fix anything. People are using the same software and programmer that you’ve got with zero issues.

There’s generally no problems with the Top3000. I have been using mine for ages with zero issues. Sounds like you got a faulty unit or there’s something funky going on with your operating system. The other two programmers you mentioned are most likely made in China too. I’d suggest sending...
