    Dishwashing PCBs

I wanted to stay away from commenting due to potential flaming, but I couldn't help myself. Professional pcb cleaning is done with an industrial dishwasher-like device, and a special cleaner. Don't take my word for it, here's just one example by CERN...

Help me turn my parts board Super Kaneko Nova into a working board: Graphics issues + "Check B NG"

It's a Cypress CY7C425-20PC. My other board has a Sharp LH540202 instead. Sharp's datasheet says it's compatible with Am/IDT/MS7202. Time to do some searching I guess.

Help me turn my parts board Super Kaneko Nova into a working board: Graphics issues + "Check B NG"

I went ahead and swapped the SRAM around from the Blue section with the Green. No Change. The board will also run with only one or two SRAMs left installed in the blue section. It seems that area is responsible for drawing parts of the screen, including the boot screen, as if you remove SRAM...

Help me turn my parts board Super Kaneko Nova into a working board: Graphics issues + "Check B NG"

I had nothing better to do so I went ahead and swapped all of the chips around randomly within the sections highlighted in RED (DRAM) and GREEN (SRAM). YELLOW check-marked chips have been repaired (SPCII-B) and reflowed (SPCII-A/B + VIEWIII-A). There is no change after doing any of this. I might...

Help me turn my parts board Super Kaneko Nova into a working board: Graphics issues + "Check B NG"

Thanks for the reply. As I said, there isn't much information out there regarding this system. I figured the problem might be with the RAM, but was unsure of where to start. I have a logic probe on order but shipping is taking a loooong time so I may just resort to playing with the RAM like you...

Help me turn my parts board Super Kaneko Nova into a working board: Graphics issues + "Check B NG"

I bought a Kaneko Nova motherboard a while back as a future donor for spare parts in case my good board fails, and it was advertised as having graphical glitches. Of course, it arrives and it does actually have graphical glitches, just as described: Of course, not being content with just...

    CPS2 rental A board compatibility?

Are versions of the connectors that are keyed (or unkeyed) in such a way that they would work with any board region available? Sounds like it'd be an interesting way to go about customizing a CPS2. Replacing the connectors would be a hassle but not too bad.

FS: Sega Ringedge 2 w/ PNY CS900 SSD + Power cord

Got this Ringedge 2 earlier this year, but I need to make room for other things so I've decided to sell it. I replaced the thermal compound on both the GPU and CPU with Arctic MX4 (good for at ~8 years, it's a long-life compound). The CPU heatsink has been replaced with an Intel OEM cooler, as...

    Ringedge2 JVS I/O Control Issue

Is the problem appearing in multiple games? Do you see the same symptoms without the USB Decoder installed? Remove the decoder, enter test mode in a game, select input test, and enter a bunch of the inputs by touching the relevant wires to signal ground, and watch the screen. This will help...

    CPS2 hot glue situation

Hot glue is super easy to remove by simply applying isopropyl alcohol and letting it sit for a bit. After that it'll lift off with ease.

Blast City / MS-2931 Interference on VGA Input

I have no experience with blasts, but I can help with your manual. It says: The monitor is factory adjusted, but when switching games, you might need to re-adjust, and to use your own judgment whether or not it's necessary by using the game's screen test mode. Adjustments are performed using...

Konami System 573 help (DDR 4th mix plus)

Thanks for the info. It sounds like the kit is missing the 4th mix plus game cart shown on step 3 here. It also sounds like it hardcodes itself to a specific system once the cart is used. Maybe this won't work at all without a complete set?
