Metro VG420 Multi interest and development thread?

Prototype PCB of the MVG460 arrived, but games aren't booting at the moment. I haven't had time to troubleshoot yet, so could be something simple or could be a completely bad design :P don't know yet.

Interest Check: Repo Restrictor disc for Gundam Stick Monkey Ball joysticks…

beyond just limit values the amp board has the potential to change the curve characteristics https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/lmc662.pdf?ts=1752251020995&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FLMC662%252Fpart-details%252FLMC662CN%252FNOPB

Interest Check: Repo Restrictor disc for Gundam Stick Monkey Ball joysticks…

I actually finally got around to building my panel yesterday (after having all these parts collecting dust for ages). with an unmodified amp board and the restrictor I'm blowing out the ranges... calibration goes from 00 to FF before I even hit the limit. I'm guessing the original MonkeyBall...

Device/Software for burning PALCE16V8 for conversions?

no, the .jed files are unique between the two chip types. there is a PALTOGAL utility that was put out by lattice, to convert a PAL .jed to a GAL .jed though I've not ever used it. https://downloads.reactivemicro.com/Electronics/PLD/Software/ EDIT: someone has suggested to me that programmers...

Someone got a sweet deal on a donor for the Asuka Multi: https://buyee.jp/item/jdirectitems/auction/s1190829015 last one of those I saw sell went for 3x that price.

Naomi Net Dimm 256 mb to 512 mb Upgrade

given you're at 3.1V you're probably seeing stability issues due to low voltage at the DIMM board. (I'd guess you're around 2.8 or 2.9V inside the DIMM board. sorry I don't have any 240V PSU recommendations for you, it's not something I've ever researched.

“I/O BD not connected to game BD”

@SailorLodestar Are you open to dumping the EPROMs? It was recently discovered that the soldered ROMs are included in the Xbox 360 version of the game. So once we have the Socketed EPROMs dumped we should have a complete set!

    Tetris Plus 2 Conversion

Tetris Plus 2 released on both the Mega System 32 platform AND as a stand-alone PCB.... so make sure you're using the MAME ROMs from the tp2m32 set as as nem said... typically the the number after the . in the file name describes the location of the ROM and the text before the . represents the...

no, unfortunately, it's missing some features that all of the other games use.

    twistedsymphony's adventures in making PCBs.

Cadash has 2x the RAM and 2x the CPU clock speed and also has network link function to link 2 PCBs together. unsure if the network hardware has to be present to boot. there is a version that was released without the link hardware but I don't believe it's been dumped. there are some other minor...

    twistedsymphony's adventures in making PCBs.

So far so good: View: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RSqHhuVpH50 So this is a multi for Taito Asuka hardware. System 16 incorrectly labels this as Bonze Adventure hardware, but Bonze adventure is actually a bit of a different architecture from the rest of the games and is not really...

Naomi Net Dimm 256 mb to 512 mb Upgrade

that wont give you an accurate reading. the voltage will drop from the input connector to DIMM board because of all of the connectors it has to pass-through internally to get there, that's why it's recommended you adjust voltage based on the location where it's being used, not where it enters...

Naomi Net Dimm 256 mb to 512 mb Upgrade

100% of the game data is transferred into the DIMM RAM before the game even attempts to boot. so if you don't have enough RAM then the game wont even load because it can't finish the transfer. your problem is something else. start with checking voltages, you should have a solid 3.3V on the...

It requires extra ram and a higher clock speed, both features I included. Hopefully that's all it needs.

are you talking about the Taito board? If so yes, but this multi supports 5 games and all 5 games came on this same board. part of the testing will be to see if I can get a 6th game supported that did not come on this board, but we'll see how it goes :)

Mk3 to maximum nba hangtime ?

there is no soldering to upgrade the RAM if that's what you're asking. the U57 PLD needs to be changed (which is socketed) and everything else is just a ROM swap assuming you're using the Any U64 patched ROM set.
