Golden Axe - Revenge of Death Adder - Attract Sound

Hi All, Appreciate you taking the time to read. Recently got RoDA. A PCB I wanted for a long time for my home cab. I set it up and it works perfectly. One thing I noticed was there is no audio for the attract mode. I felt like I remembered the song playing during the scene and my friend does...

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

Hi Nem, appreciate your help but my question is with the board inserted and soldered into the edge connector how would I access the 4 pin locations? Would I need to desolder the whole thing to remove that board and transfer the cables off of the board onto the pins of the edge connector?

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

Hi Nem, attached photos of both end of the Jamma harness. As you can see it is [2x] +5V, [2x] Ground, [1x] +12V, and [1x] -5V. It is modified so I don’t see how based on your notes I would be able to tie off 4 lines for +5V and ground. See attached photos. The edge is modified with a board of...

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

That would go back to me replacing the Jamma harness, no? I would imagine I would need to ensure x4 for both ground and +5V on the edge and separate x2 for ground and +12V? I would imagine there are certain shops to go to for them. I have seen Bob Roberts harnesses mentioned in some older threads.

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

@nem Thanks for the reply. I agree with your points but wanted to clear up how the Molex connector is wired to the Unico board. The Molex connector is actually 4 Ground, 4 +5V, 2 Ground, snd 2 +12V. You can zoom in to see it in the photo. Well no one wants that lol so would your...

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

Here is what I got. First photo shows the wiring through the setup: PSU > Unico control board > Jamma harness. I do have some splice connectors in place. Without the MVH6 connected and the system just powered on if I test at the PSU, the Molex mini junior, and both ends of the Jamma harness I...

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

Appreciate you @nem I think after some testing this will work much better. A little concerned though since I am already using 18 AWG. https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B09TK83NVP?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

What would normal or acceptable drop off look like? Do you have any suggestions for a replacement Jamma harness?

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

@nem here are the readings. My voltmeter is set to 20 and out of the PSU I have 5.8. Photo attached showing the read out at the PSU. I believe if connected to a different board that doesn’t pull as much the read out at the PSU would be higher. Again, any thoughts you have regarding what I...

[Looking for Help] Converting NovaBlast to proper Jamma Cab

@nem appreciate you weighing in! Yes, I can confirm the voltage out of the PSU is greater than what is seen at the edge.

Audio Issues MVS Metal Slug 3

AH… I was afraid of that. Will need to do some research. Definitely out of my range and maybe out of my comfort zone.

Audio Issues MVS Metal Slug 3

Is there a way to tell if the M-1 or V chips went bad or have failed? Could they go bad even if continuity is present? These picture should be cleared of the boards and hopefully someone can see or suggest some thing I am clearly missing.

Audio Issues MVS Metal Slug 3

[UPDATE] Tested M-1 pins for continuity from front to back of board and also from trace side to contacts. All lines confirmed. So that’s good, I guess? Started testing V 1-4. I quickly realized on the eprom side a pin hits multiple traces on the other side of the board. Which at first I thought...

    MVS Metal Slug X Salvageable?

Hi Neo-Alec, Appreciate you keeping an eye on this! Since you last wrote back I noted in the prior update that boards work now just outside of the cartridge casing. See the video and video photos above.

Audio Issues MVS Metal Slug 3

So far I have continuity from the traces on the back of the board… the pins on the SMA and PCM look fine… not sure what to look for next.

    MVS Metal Slug X Salvageable?

LOL see what happens when you are trying to fix two problem MVS carts? Sorry mixed up the videos. Thanks for catching it - just updated the link in the previous update. Feel free to take a look and let me know if you notice anything off. If you have any thoughts towards my MS3 audio issue…...

    MVS Metal Slug X Salvageable?

I don’t think there are enough ways to say thank you! I really appreciate that kind offer and be careful I might need to ask you for assistance in the future. Regarding the Metal Slug X though I might have fixed it? If I fully reassemble and put it in the case I only get the test pattern but do...

    MVS Metal Slug X Salvageable?

Hi All, Thanks for chiming in. I straightened out the pins between 76-79 the best I could and tested the traces on the back. All checked out but one. I bypassed it with 30 AWG cable and retested and get continuity between the points now. Sadly same result though… back to square one.
