Another Nanao MS8-26SG thread, or is it MS8-26A? Questions about components

Here are the schematics I could find for the MS8-26 + a service manual https://ufile.io/tzg1f6y8 I think the issue you are having is a "Vertical Foldover", I think it can be related to the capacitors, but you replaced them.. I don't know exactly what to look.. but there are may skillful people...

Another Nanao MS8-26SG thread, or is it MS8-26A? Questions about components

Hi fiti15, just saw your message, can confirm that this chassis had both C431 and C432 present, and both are 33uf @ 100V. That fix is weird indeed, I don't know why your chassis does not have them, I would remove the "fix" and put some capacitors there, good luck!

Nanao MS8-26SG Green color "noise", what to check? [solved]

Thanks for the advice, I took out the monitor and soldered some wires at the RGB "out" from the chassis to the neck board, and with the oscilloscope compared signals between the crosshatch screen and the color bars (I don't have anything to produce a full white screen yet..) The crosshatch...

Nanao MS8-26SG Green color "noise", what to check? [solved]

I can try swapping them, that's a good idea!, but I also have a cheap but useful in some cases DSO 138: What would you measure with it? Thanks! Interesting, good to know, that's the first thing I'm going to check when I take the monitor out. Looking at the schematic I found zeners just...

Yes, I forgot to put I tried that too, at the RGB connector that hangs inside the cabinet, I've swapped green with blue and blue with green, red left untouched Found that green still glitches:

Nanao MS8-26SG Green color "noise", what to check? [solved]

Hi guys, I'm having an issue with the Nanao MS8-26SG monitor from one of my aerocities. After having it in storage for a few months and turning it on again, I found some sort of annoying "noise" on its picture, like the brightness of some colors is varying all the time. To have a better...

Neo-Geo MV-1B "MKL" Stereo mod + Recorded samples + Audio question

Hi guys, I have a MV-1B Neo Geo MVS board, and I wasn't satisfied knowing that the games have stereo audio but this board can't output it, so I started researching about stereo line-out mods. Found that there is a very basic one and a better one, so I went for the latter, the "MKL" mod: So I...

Splatterhouse Namco System 1 - Issue

Hey, I just saw this post, did you make it work? If not, you can try, with the board turned off, turning it on with the dip switch 1 ON (service mode), this should trigger a test that can give you a message with the possible faulty IC. Also you can try cleaning it and reseating the top and...

NeoGeo Blazing Star conversion on PROGTOP board issue, almost there [Solved]

I made it work!! :D First, PROGTOP board has P1_A19 and P2_A19 addresses tied between. They are enabled with /PORTADRS at the cart edge connector. But since Top Hunter (the only PROGTOP that uses P2 rom) has only 1MB (A0-A18 (16bit)), P2_A19 is never used, therefore, if it was just grounded, I...

NeoGeo Blazing Star conversion on PROGTOP board issue, almost there [Solved]

Another test: Removed J7 & J10, jumped J6 & J8, and put P1 rom at P2 place, P2 rom at P1 place The result is that the game still works, still works the same ||. Now with P1 and P2 roms switched. Maybe the game does some kind of bankswitching that only works with PROGBK1? I think it may be...

NeoGeo Blazing Star conversion on PROGTOP board issue, almost there [Solved]

Hehe, you're right, I tried and the cart doesn't close. I just use the pcbs loose, they are held pretty tight when inserted into each socket, I haven't had issues with them falling or anything :P

NeoGeo Blazing Star conversion on PROGTOP board issue, almost there [Solved]

Hi guys, I'm trying to do a Blazing Star conversion, and I'm almost there, but don't know how to solve this last issue: Game animated intro graphics are all wrong, or black, but the gameplay seems to work as it should. Sound/Music is OK too. First thing I did was checking C roms, my method...

Namco System 1 "Pacmania" - RAM5 error repair

I had left my Namco System 1 board laying over my room for a few months, until I saw I could try burning some roms with "Youkai Douchuuki / Shadowland" to play on it, I had it converted it to other games with success but never tried Shadowland because thought it required a SEEQ eeprom (mine got...

Neo-Geo MV1B charging circuit mod issue

I think I'm beginning to understand what's going on here: D4 has an unusually low forward voltage drop, and googling its marking (S4) gives that it's a "Schottky diode", and seems like these kind of diodes have a high reverse leakage current. So that explains why the multimeter measures 3.7V...

Neo-Geo MV1B charging circuit mod issue

Thanks, I measured D4 in circuit and found that it seems to be allowing current in the right direction and blocking it on the opposite, as it should be... I'm not sure what else to try ?( Also I took out D3 for measuring it (it was fine) but couldn't get it back on because it was too tiny, going...

Neo-Geo MV1B charging circuit mod issue

Hi guys, When I first got my MV1B board I saw the original battery was corroded, and since for me it's not easy to get a rechargeable battery of that type I decided to disable the charging circuit so I can hook up there a 2xAA alkaline battery pack and forget about it for some time. I did the...

PacMania - music, but no sounds

I suggest replacing U2, since also, the link you had posted at the beginning says So RAM2 Error should be U2 I guess. At the moment, which sounds is the board emitting? music or samples?

PacMania - music, but no sounds

Those EPROMS are in the right place, System 1 games can have a mix of 64kbyte (28 pins) and 128kbyte (32pins) EPROMS, all sockets on the board support 128kbyte EPROMS, maybe pacmania uses 2 x 64kb instead of 1 x 128kb because it was cheaper at that time?, Tank Force uses just one 128kb left: my...
