TAITO F3 and RetroTINK 5X Awesomeness!

Had a play with the RetroTink 5X-Pro, and it is indeed very nice hardware. It's not optimized for arcade at all for the time being though, but this may change in the future. A safe setup is Jammafier -> Tri-Sync Helper set to CSYNC -> special scart cable -> RetroTink 5X. The Tri-Sync helper...

    Irken (MiSTer) JAMMA Expander

It will work with 13.5 on next release- tolerances have been relaxed, and it will continue to boot normally if voltages are within range.

    MiSTer FPGA

The main thing is it opens up for arcade PCB's based on these platforms, which is amazing. ST-V (Radiant Silvergun), ZN2 / ZN2, Taito G-NET etc..

    MiSTer FPGA

Fantastic! PM me if you have a jamma cab, and I'll send an appreciation your way :) The JAMMA Expander should be back in stock this December.

    Irken (MiSTer) JAMMA Expander

Just got word from the factory - scheduled completion is beginning of December, so should in theory be ready before Christmas.

    Irken (MiSTer) JAMMA Expander

You can't brick or mess up the expander itself, but it's not very hard to mess up input on MiSTer itself. If you do, you can just delete whatever is under config/input on the MiSTer SD card. I hope to have the new batch ready before Christmas.

I've done my best to explain it here, https://irkenlabs.com/jamma-expander/operation-gamepad

For consoles, gamepad mode is probably the way to go - or just avoid them altogether :)

    Name for JVS2JAMMA board

All the devices I sell with firmware are (IMHO) very well protected. Things without firmware are of course a little trickier to protect against cloning. What should I do when people making similar products operating in low-cost countries and on this forum place an order for an unprotected...

OSSC --> SCART --> BNC --> RGBs Question for Cute Build

That listing is 9 pin, no idea why they say VGA as that is 15 pin. Got a couple of those (15 pin version) and they're very useful, soldering VGA connectors is a royal PITA. For JAMMA->VGA, https://irkenlabs.com/retro-scaler-a1/introduction

Best Voltage Settings For These Games

If you need to dial in voltages in your cab, you're doing something wrong. Ohms law comes into play, voltage=current * resistance - in this case it's the resistance of the wires between the psu and the game board. The higher the resistance of the wires, higher the fluctuation you will see...

Looks like there is no kick cable between the expander and the jammafier. Jamma does not have button 6..

    JVS 2 jamma / over-engineered arcade thingy

Unless there is a really weird bug, I'm going to point the finger at your IO board / wiring :) What does Naomi or other JVS games say?

    Retro Scaler A1

Great stuff @sammargh, added x68000 and amiga 1200, moved MSX2 to working. The syncSlayer II is likely not needed if you can manage to get RGB + sync directly to the A1, the A1 has the same ISL59885 the sync slayer use.

Check that you haven't inadvertently mapped keyboard mode to virtual gamepad. All the jotgego cores should work out-of-the-box with no remapping. Gamepad mode is really just needed for neogeo (as it's a console core) and a few titles not mentioned above...

Check leds, bottom of this page https://irkenlabs.com/jamma-expander/hardware-details A multimeter on the JAMMA edge could also be an idea. Is the DE10 starting up? the DE10 must boot before it supplies power to the Expander

@andynumbers double-check that the JAM/CHAM switch is set to JAM, according to this schematic, the coin switch uses 27th position for GND. Not sure about the test switch though.. https://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/images/3/3a/Taito_Egret_2_Schematic.jpg Did it work at first, then this started...

    Irken (MiSTer) JAMMA Expander

I'm planning a new batch - hope to have them out before Christmas. I'm doing a list (yes I know...), last batch helped me space out the shipments a few days which was helpful - and it will also help me size the batch, although parts shortage may limit how many I can make.. Sign up here...

Got an Aero City MS8 myself, and the brightness is good, maybe time for a recap? My MV-1A was actually kind of a reference for what I wanted the output voltage levels to be. This is MV1A, terminated with 1K: This is from SNES 240p test suite, via the Expander:
