    Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun review

The ZD-915 is a great unit and worked well for a long time - the tips definitely wear out faster but they’re also cheaper so you just need to keep spares on hand The main problem I had on my ZD-915 units is the pump dying, but they worked hard until they died

    Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun review

I bought the smaller nozzles for the FR-301 along with an extra 1.0mm since it’s the best all round The larger oval nozzles are a great option as well, it was something I always missed not having on the ZD-915

    Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun review

Is that the JBC clone? I’m looking at grabbing one of those - not sure if I should go for a genuine JBC instead but looking at a few YouTube reviews the T3A seems to be pretty close and will fit original tips

    Hakko FR-301 Desoldering Gun review

I recently got an FR-301 after my third ZD-915 died and I decided it was time to upgrade Took a while to get here with the current supply chain issues but I’ve had it about a month and from the first time I used it, wow The ZD-915 did a great job for a long time but the FR-301 is a totally...

Indeed. Used to be more expensive than ordering online but not unreasonable, especially if it meant you could have what you needed today and continue on with whatever you’re working on $130 for a roll of no name brand solder is way out there. My local Jaycar store has really reduced a lot of...

    BlueSCSI - Possible SCSI2SD Alternative

I’ve spoken to the BlueSCSI devs on the Discord a bit, the code for the BlueSCSI is fine for the CPS3 (it even works to boot games) but it isn’t fast enough to emulate a CD-ROM properly. They were looking into ways it might be possible to improve the code to make it work but it sounds like it...

Looking for a original Mercs or Three Wonders C Board

CPS1.5 seems to die more frequently but that may be because of the dual battery system I have a Knights of the Round that was still running fine on battery when I got it and I’ve definitely seen System 16B CPUs still running on their original batteries. They’re still out there

Yes! Yes I would like to buy a MV4-FT2 for $20 - that sounds like a perfectly sensible idea.

In my experience the custom failing is unlikely and bad traces from the interconnects through to the custom are very common. Track down which interconnect is associated with the slot you are having issues with and beep out from there

What Donor Board to use for the CPS1 Multi

KotR should be a 12mhz Dash board and will have the correct battery powered C board (KotR is my donor) If it has a 10Mhz A board it’s still fine as long as it’s a short board, the crystal can be changed out

Yes! Yes I would like to buy a MV4-FT2 for $20 - that sounds like a perfectly sensible idea.

It’s not unique to UniBIOS - the multi slot boards are very temperamental because of the way they address the ROM space If you’re playing larger cartridges you often need to shuffle them around and have the larger carts in a lower slot

CPS2 Solid color screen on SFZ3 Help!

OP said he is using decrypted ROMs for program, so it should boot up - I assume they mean the original mask ROMs are on board which should not be an issue @Xico77 - are you sure you used the correct decrypted set? You may have the wrong region on your board. It may also be a non working...
