Arcade board PCB form factor and enclosure

I tend to be rather paranoid about static and use a static discharge plate to discharge myself before handling PCBs (plate is grounded). The one I have also gives you a very loud beep if you are over 500v when touching it! It is both disconcerting and illuminating in equal measure, knowing that...

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Thanks Lachlan - each day I learn a little more about this hobby so I appreciate the responses on here. A great community. The hobby is definitely a rabbits hole to fall down. Talking of which, I just know that now I've got comfortable this is not an issue, I'll probably trip and fall when...

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Thanks Nem - there are a few shades of dark green, so now it's just my curiosity to find out more about how these things are designed and what the different layers are. The more I find out about our hobby the more I think these boards are actually works of art and quite beautiful! Although some...

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Thanks DLoop - it's (maybe) in the post now ;) I know nothing about how the ground or board traces actually work but the darker green line seems to go to the large capacitor. Not sure if this is actually the case, just looks like it does (maybe the dark green is a substrate under the board?)...

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Thanks CoolFox - hypothetically, for future reference, if there was a break in a ground trace, would this be noticeable or be a big issue?

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Thanks XeD. Appreciate your reply. Is this because there is no actual trace there? Thanks

CAVE CV1000 PCB - any impact of this scratch?

Hope everyone is well. Maybe an odd question, but I received this CAVE PCB and noticed a scratch at the top edge (near the sticker) that looks a little deeper than a surface / superficial scratch. Based on its position, does anyone know if this is a concern or not (specifically, is there...

    New Australian Distributor

Well done on getting the business set up. I notice, however, that the cat is not up for sale on the website. Maybe already sold out. Disappointing :)

CAVE ESP RA.DE PCB - ceramic capacitors typically replaced?

Thanks for everyone's replies! A quick and decisive consensus. It does make me wonder whether the board has been bashed around for the components to need reflowing like that. I tend to dwell/focus too much on small issues with my boards rather than playing- quite distracting (once seen, cannot...

CAVE ESP RA.DE PCB - ceramic capacitors typically replaced?

I just received a Japanese ESP RA.DE board. I noticed that there was some flux on the underside against three or four of the blue ceramic capacitors. One does not look a great job on the soldering from the top. Has anyone else had this on their ESP.RA.DE boards or knows if there is a reason...

    Hello from Japan

Welcome. The Blast looks a perfect fit for the space! Almost like it was made for it. You are lucky as it's a difficult conundrum for most Japan apartments. I hope you enjoy it.

Testing BNC and VGA cable voltage and resistance

Thanks for the replies! @Zebra - Ikegami monitors are nice. I have the 15 inch, and whilst it's footprint is deep, the style is nice (1505 with the cool control panel that comes out the front)

Testing BNC and VGA cable voltage and resistance

Thanks @Zebra / @stj / @ic3b4ll - I appreciate the swift responses and reassurance! It is indeed a journey of discovery. I can't ever remember worrying about this sort of thing when I was a kid with just one TV, one mega drive and one game - and one composite cable to connect them all. A...

Testing BNC and VGA cable voltage and resistance

Hope you are all well. I finally got round to testing (playing with?) the new oscilloscope (which I will henceforth call a 'scope' to make it sound like I know what I'm doing). Tested a consolised MVS using BNC connectors (RGB and sync) with 75 ohm in line terminators. Had Metal Slug playing...

Axun Workshop - JVS / JAMMA Control-Box(CBOX) SuperGun

That's good. I was also looking for someone to commission an adapter for the Sigma 3TB stick to Neo Geo (not found that person yet). From what I can see decipher from the Wiki, the new 3TB stick pinout does not use 5V on pin 13 (apparently rapid fire instead), which is different than the...

Axun Workshop - JVS / JAMMA Control-Box(CBOX) SuperGun

@Cereth Not sure if I correctly interpreted what documentation you are after but this is a Wiki page for the Sigma sticks, including the 6000TB (and others). Hope it helps. I am a big fan of the Sigma sticks - https://w.atwiki.jp/sigma-denshi/sp/pages/14.html

Sigma Σ3TB joystick adapter for Neo Geo (CMVS)

Thanks @djsheep / @xb74 - I have searched high and low (in Japan and elsewhere) but not come up with any premade one for sale. From what I can deduce it would just need a female 13 pin din wired to the neo geo male Db15 plug and then the cable Sigma sells could just plug into this adapter...

Testing BNC and VGA cable voltage and resistance

Thanks for everyones help - took the plunge and bought a scope, but as one door closes another one opens and have a related question that I've posted to a new thread - https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/oscilloscope-50ohm-vs-75ohm-bnc-connection.16957/

Oscilloscope 50ohm Vs 75ohm BNC connection

Hello. To start testing the various devices and superguns I have, I purchased an oscilloscope (entirely the fault of everyone on this thread https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/testing-bnc-and-vga-cable-voltage-and-resistance.16850/)! I read, however, that a 75ohm BNC input from the...

Sigma Σ3TB joystick adapter for Neo Geo (CMVS)

Anyone? I thought these sticks would get more attention as they are very nice to use. An adapter like this would open the market up for them to be used wider.
