That's what I do and it works perfect. I also just run VGA from my Mister to my Vewlix. I'm new to Mister but I couldn't read anything on why I should choose hdmi over VGA on the Mister, and that frees up my DVI input on my Vewlix for other things.

I noticed in some pictures it appears like you have a thin piece of plexi in front of the marquee to help hold in the artwork print and smooth it out. If this is correct any chance you might make these and sell them? Example below:
