Price, got it cheap enough that even if it's a stop gap I won't feel it much. And frankly the specs and compatibility list is solid, it's just the unsigned drivers that are problematic.

Ended up getting a Wellon VP598. It's... OK. Couldn't get it to work in a virtual machine, and you have to disable driver signing in Windows to get the USB to serial driver to work. But otherwise it seems solid. Example unit (I paid a fair amount less)...

Dang, was hoping that was it. Next step would be to figure out where the signal is being lost.If I had it in front of me, I could swap out some parts. But lamentably I have no idea what the pin out is of the cable that connects to these boards.

Gotcha, so it has one of the remap chips built in. Have you tried resetting the mapping? I have a similar board (jamma extension rather than supergun) that got stuck in a bad configuration, was a PITA to reset. The newer ones like yours at least have a button to press to trigger the setup rather...

What I've seen in a short search is a lot of carts with flash memory where I would expect an EPROM (shrug). I may just be delving into the shadier sides of the interwebs.

I've reached a deal with Skate for a main board and a couple carts to get me started. Will continue my hunt for Demon Front to replace the single JAMMA board version I have (which I'll then resell to off set the cost of moving to the cart version). Is there anything like the MVS Scans database...
