Reverse engineering 161 in 1 cartridge to change Rom games

Would you consider releasing the CAD's for the 56 pin TSOP please? I'd like to fiddle with the SMT footprints a bit to accommodate something like this test socket. Standard size SMT pads need a hotplate or a micro iron, but with bigger SMT pads home fabrication is (barely) possible without...

Zonaarcade - reproduction CPS2 serial number and AAMA labels - anyone had experience?

Hi Team; Arcade operators in my country used to say "There's no serial number on a coin" However, there was a serial number on the game board. So they diligently removed them. Presumably to hide from taxes. And for some odd reason the AAMA stickers too, maybe the holo labels looked like hidden...

    info: jamma pcbs architecture resources

+1 for the above - you learn this architecture in the same way that you learn any architecture, understand the building blocks, then study the implementation of those blocks in well documented examples "The book of CP system" is a great resource for exactly this, from first principals and high...

WTB WTB: Supergun for USA use - w/RGB

At the moment HAS and Minigun are your best options IMO. HAS is 100% reliable with known-good parts, supply chain and assembly - you can’t go wrong. Minigun is an open project so you are dependent on the reputation of your individual supplier for quality parts and etc - buy from a reputable...

    Namco Exceleena Restoration

Can confirm. Design looks very beautiful, and it’s 100% custom by Namco, but for whatever reason they are all beaten to hell. Those big resistors get really hot and either burn the board or desolder themselves. If you do choose to restore the power supply some notes/bom here might help, Post...

X-Men vs Street Fighter graphic issues

Looks like backgrounds are drawing OK, but sprites are glitchy. tonne of useful info https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/been-a-few-months-since-we-had-a-leaky-battery-repair-thread.19678/ For your specific problem; Capcom called sprites "characters" The chip that is responsible for...

Arcade CRT - can just one gun go bad?

Perfectly possible for a single gun to go out, and as @BuddyC rightly says this is exactly the kind of fault that a CRT tester/rejuvenator is designed to test/find/fix. Also a humblebrag on the BK467 - it is god-tier and I want one badly. :-) Another common fault is for one of the colour...

CPS2 digiAV - source of Cyclone 10 FPGA chips to make my own?

Finished! Quick dip in the ultrasonic cleaner, minty clean and ready to install. Both Mouser and Digikey are showing lead times of 12+ months for FPGA's again, And they cut down my order from 5 to 2, feels like it might be a very long time before we see these in volume again...

CPS2 digiAV - source of Cyclone 10 FPGA chips to make my own?

This was about 3 hours work to nearly finish the front side. I thought the clock generator was hard. Then I discovered the clamping diodes. Looks messy from all the flux, but it's actually pretty OK.

CPS2 digiAV - source of Cyclone 10 FPGA chips to make my own?

ENIG vs HASL, is it worth paying 500% more for? Normally I would say no, HASL is perfectly lovely, easy to solder and makes a really nice joint even with average tools and technique. But for this specific use case the answer is yes. The difference in surface finish of ENIG is absolutely...

Minigun Supergun - An Open Source Supergun

+1 for those answers. As the proud(?) owner of 3 x 125a’s I can confirm that they need to be powering something to actually work. Expected behaviour with no load is flashing green light. So you’re doing everything right, that power supply is working as expected. When you finish your supergun...
