    Wood City build

Inspired by this thread, I set out to build a wooden Astro City inspired cabinet over the winter with the assistance of my father and his woodworking shop. Arcade monitors are impossible to find here, so this is built to house a consumer TV in tate mode without having to take it out of its...

    2023 repro MVS carts

I have a few of these and one of them crashes out fairly early into gameplay. Opened it up and the circuitry looks fairly simple. It’s beyond my skill level, but does anyone know if it would be possible to reflash / reprogram these carts?

    Strikers 1945 break and fix

I accidentally fried the PIC16C57 for this game while trying to dump it. Game would not budge past the security chip check. MAME source code (psikyo.cpp) says that Tengai uses the same board, SH404, and the same model PIC at u59. My burner can't write PIC16C57 but it can write PIC16F57, so I...

    SSFII: Tournament Battle label

Couldn't find a hi-res, clean scan of this anywhere, so I cobbled one together using components from a few different sources. Bottom flags/names aren't as sharp as they could be, and the label number itself is wrong (should be -1), but this might be of use to some people...

    FS Mario Bros (Rev G?)

This game has some (probably minor) issues -- I don't have the free time to spend fixing something I don't want to play, but maybe YOU do. Decent shape overall, some minor corrosion just starting here and there on some of the EPROM legs. I dumped 3F and 3J, and the shasums match MAME; the issue...

    MVS busted sound

Like a dummy, I managed to pop something in the sound circuitry by rapidly power cycling my supergun, probably while it was in mono mode. Everything still runs fine but the unit is totally silent now. Is this a fixable issue? Surely I'm not the first person to make this mistake.

Mario Bros with background sprite errors

Hi, I was gifted a 1983 Mario Bros cab which surprisingly still works, save for some background sprite issues. Platforms are missing and I have vertical lines all over the screen instead. Just so I have an idea of what I'm dealing with before I extract the PCB -- what are some common causes for...

Strikers 1945 III bootleg missing some sprites

Hi folks, I've got a Strikers 1945 III that generally runs well, but one stage has what I'd describe as severe frame drop and a few other stages have a handful of missing enemy sprites or sprite errors. Best places to check for problems? Photo of the board below. I *think* the graphics roms are...

SOLD HAS Supergun FS, never used

Bought it three months ago, still haven't hooked it up. Can't find a reasonably priced AV cable and my tv only has S-Video input anyway. $200CAD SOLD shipped anywhere in Canada, US/WW add actual shipping cost. Thanks.

Psikyo SH404 no audio (Strikers 1945)

Hi, I purchased this board a while back, appears to be an original, works great with the exception of the audio. All I get is a steady hum when I turn up the volume on the PCB -- no other sound whatsoever. Yamaha YMF278B wayyyy at the back of the board is receiving a steady 5V. The crystal...

    Converting SSF2 to SSF2TB — help!

Hey gang. I own one of the SSF2 Tournament Battle cabinets that used to be in the local mall. A previous owner sold the CPS2 boards, but I’ve tracked down a SSF2 board and one of @Mitsurugi-w’s link PCBs. I’d like to convert my B board from SSF2 to SSF2TB. It looks like only a few of the chips...

Positive feedback for Barth0lin0, sheep_nova, YATON

Been doing some purchasing lately and have had good experiences with some users here. @Barth0lin0 — I purchased three CPS2 B boards and one A board. Paid up front, package arrived safe, sound, and well-padded. All items working and as described. @sheep_nova — I purchased a PGM and three Cave...

    Sega Europa-R I/O board help

I’ve got a single-seat USA SR3 cabinet with this I/O board, part number is 171-0005UK. The Europa-R motherboard is not in the best shape, so I’m preparing myself for the possibility of having to get this I/O working in a different PC — possibly my TTX4, which runs SR3 via TeknoParrot. Does...

    Sega Rally 3 rebuild/repair

I bought a non-working Sega Rally 3 a few weeks ago. It’s a single-seat USA model. I can’t find very much solid info out there about these, so I figured I’d document my progress on repairing it. Hopefully I can get it running again!

WTB [No longer looking] CPS2 SSF2 Tournament Battle A+B

Help me restore my cab! I am looking for a SSF2 Tournament Battle A+B board set to replace the ones that a previous owner removed from my original big blue tournament battle cabinet. This won’t be converted or turned into a multi. You will be helping restore a Tournament Battle cabinet to its...

    Hi from eastern Canada

So busy reading about arcades that I missed the introductions! Hi, I’m located in eastern Canada, major arcade head as a youth in the 90s and now rediscovering the joy of the hobby. I designed and built my own podium style cabinet late last year, and then this past January I stumbled on my...

    Procedure for liberating X4 HDD

Here's how I diverted my 320GB HDDs from my Taito Type X4's for normal use. I have successfully performed this on two different units. That said, this procedure (obviously) comes with NO GUARANTEE and you follow it AT YOUR OWN RISK. I assume NO LIABILITY if these instructions fry your hardware...
