Little update: I desoldered the white terminal block from the PCB and found that the through holes on the PCB are way too small to fit an 18 gauge wire through, much less two twisted together. Does anyone have experience or ideas about soldering on a different terminal block to fit 18 AWG wire...

Just found that out myself lol. Yeah, both games just produced garbled graphics. Checking the mame source code I see "bboardplds" data, and "o224b.1a" for the 2 versions of US Mercs. Would I just find replacements chips (ebay?), and then burn the data from both versions to the chips? And then...

Quick little update: I have since tested Mercs with a truly working A board (from Ghouls n Ghosts). Mercs still produces the same graphical problems :( And GnG works perfectly with Mercs' A board, so I can rule out it being an A board issue. I still have not tried reflowing the C-board chip's...
