Dependent on acceptance letter to school in Tokyo. If accepted my car will be for sale starting January 2019.

More pictures from all angles will be added soon so I can shower minor cosmetic problems.

2006 STi in world rally blue. 130k Miles; motor rebuilt at 50k with Eagle pistons and rods, and a 2009 camshaft (done by previous owner with the intention of running higher boost which was never done; he was over sports cars after coming home from Afghanistan). Full COBB intake and Invidia turbo-back exhaust. Caifornia registered with smog check good until April 2020. Will include COBB access port device; it runs Stage 2 without problems but is currently on a stock map. I’ve owned the car since it was at 53k in 2011. All maintenance from 2012 to 2015 was done at Frank Subaru in San Diego; all maintenance since by master mechanic Manabu Sugahara at SPC Automotive.

Cosmetically the car has seen better days. It will need new paint and minor body work if you want to hit up a show. The backseat also needs to be redone. Mechanically the car is strong, and FAST!

I will be asking 11k which is under KBB minimum price for private party. Clean title is in my possession. Feel free to PM me and look at it anytime, even before it’s officially for sale. This car has treated me great for last 7 years and I’d love to see it go to an owner who can restore it back it’s glory days.

Very cool to see this posted here, and good luck on your acceptance!

I had the same car in black. Great car and a good selection of mods on yours without going overboard :)

It’s a shame you can’t take it back where it came from with you :P

Good luck, someone is going to get a great car

Seeing how this a forum of friends I thought I’d add the personal reason this will be for sale: I thought about having it kept at my dad’s place while I’m gone, but I feel like somebody else could enjoy it a lot more. My dad is old and wouldn’t even use it other than some neighborhood drives to keep it working. If he’s not using it then it’s just sitting there. My mom is scared to death of the car so she’s out. My brother will be in Taiwan so that’s out. My cousin Steve lives in car theft central so he’s out. There’s also the possibility I may not come back for a while. My fiancé is Japanese, and while she says she prefers to live in the US now that could change after going back. In that case the car will have to be sold anyway. The car shouldn’t be sitting for years. It’s great daily driver that still has plenty of potential with the right owner.

Sold to my mechanic. It's currently being completely ripped apart :p

Nooooooooo!!!

When I went to live in Japan I left my type R sat for 3 years cause I knew if I sold it I would regret it and never get one like it again.

Got back home, charged the battery up changed the oil and pop, started right up. The only issue I had was a fouled O2 sensor that I needed to replace.

Subies are a bit different due to the boxer engine design. If you let it sit for 3 years you would be looking at a rebuild :(

It's nice to hear it went to someone who is going to have some fun with it :)

I know they need on time oil changes due to the passageways getting blocked by thick oil but ( I am no boxer expert) I wouldn't think that letting it sit would do any damage unless you didnt do some servicing first before restarting it?

It sounded like mukurofish was saying it was going to be ripped apart?

You would potentially need to replace the head gaskets after sitting for that kind of period and unfortunately on these cars that's a full removal of engine and teardown.

There is zero space to work on the engine with it in the bay

The other issue is as you pointed out if the oil passages get blocked (a potential problem with oil sitting for 3 years) that's also a teardown.

Also, because the oil will sit in the bottom of the cylinders half the piston is sitting dry for a long period, piston rings dry out, you can end up with a seized engine

By ripped apart I assumed he meant the mechanic was going to teardown the engine and upgrade it, there's a lot of potential in these engines and a LOT of upgrade options

Honestly sounds like a pissweak engine if it can't handle sometime parked up, always wanted a Sti as they seem a bit bigger than an evo but the fragility of the engine or meticulousness of it kinda puts me off.

The motor is being ripped apart and rebuilt. A bigger turbo may go on once he’s done. Bodywork and paint will be done. It crapped out on me on my way home from school in November. Simply put it needed about 3k worth of work done to get it running again. I’m moving so soon that I didn’t want to mess with it anymore. Easy sell with no headache. He’s been cool to me for the last four years, and taking care of our beater car until we move.
