5.5V 0.1F super capacitor in Sega System 16B

Hello, I'd like to know the function of this 0.1F 5.5V supercapacitor in a System 16B board.

As far as I know, the only batteries that keep encryption keys are allocated in the M68K or Z80 replacements in encrypted boards, so this supercap is not used to keep any encryption key, am I right?

Update: For the record, I can confirm the board works fine without this supercap and keeps credits while turned on. It just don't save high scores.

Hello,

The role of the SuperCap is to keep the work ram powered (the samsung ones in your pic)while the pcb is not powered.Its only role is to keep the credits you have coined up the machine, and perhaps to keep the high score.
