if you'd rather program the original back on battery it's pretty cheap to build your own programmer

Alternatively the openkey-cps1 can be used as a programmer to reprogram a battery backed c-board.
I know I still have a lot of C-Boards on battery because they fit better in cases than they do with the open key installed.
