The sound on my Astro City Cab just stopped working. I have:

Verified 12V at the Jamma Connector -
Tested with a known working PCB.
Tested the Speakers by connecting them to the 2nd astro right next to it, worked.
Checked the volume pot on the PCB and Power supply to make sure it's turned up.

Will a dead sound pot on the PSU cause absolutely NO sound? (No crackle, static, nothing.)

Any other component at the PSU that can cause sound problems I might be overlooking?

There's no amp in these cabs. It's just a straight connection from the edge connector to the pot to the speakers.

If you have two Astros, swap the PSUs. Pot or a bad connection inside the PSU is my guess.

Thanks for the help guys. I have isolated the issue at the PSU. I do have another astro but it uses a different PSU so the connectors won't fit.

If I apply pressure to the wires and they bend, the sound gets restored. Once I let go of the wire, the sound goes out. For now, I tied the wires down to maintain pressure with a cable tie, but will open up the PSU this weekend and see whats going on. I'm thinking possible cold solder? What do you guys think?

Depends on the PSU. Either there's a PCB or the connectors are just mounted on the shell. So poor solder joints or just oxidation on the connectors. If it's the latter you could try cleaning them, but personally I would just crimp all new pins (both sides).

Connectors are AMP UP.

I've had the AMP universal power connectors act up in a blast city CP before because they were super filthy.

Maybe try squirting some isoprpyl alcohol in the contacts (wire side not PSU side) then apply some deoxit, then plug and unplug the socket a few times.

Yeah this problem is a prime candidate for "unplug everything, clean it, and plug it back in" to start
