I was in the middle of swapping out button/stick panels on my Astro City when I noticed this green wire on the panel above the 1P/2P buttons. My new panel doesn’t have a spot for this wire. Does anybody know what this wire is for and will it be a problem if I just disconnect it? Thank you in advance.

You had many shocks from a control panel? They must hurt!
I've had a few good ones. More startling and annoying than anything, usually it's like getting shocked when you touch a grounded item in your home.

I do remember one in particular that made a loud audible "snap." I probably picked up the static wiping off the CRT... Now I hold a grounded screw (or touch a CP screw assuming the CP is grounded) while dusting a powered on monitor.

I've said this elsewhere before, but you can check your work on this by probing the bare metal of the CP and the ground prong of your power cord. There should be continuity (if your meter doesn't have continuity mode just use resistance. It should be close to 0 ohms).

I have had a cab that didn't get me at the control panel, but I was down plugging in a different cab, and rested my cheek against another cab that was on, and got a heck of a tingle....powered it down till I could run though grounding, and put a new 3prong outlet on it, and have had similar issues with metal cabs where the ground pin was broken on the power outlet cord.

Only major blasts I've gotten were from a monitor that had been discharged 24hrs previous and apparently not discharged fully enough.....and then me accidentally dragging some wristband keychain over a 50vDC bottlecap transistor in a basketball game, which was my own dumb fault....that one hurt.
