hi guys. i would like to request help in verifying whether the CPS1 boards i purchased are authentic.

i was wondering why the A board have the CPS DASH sticker but the oscillator is 10Mhz.
the EEPROMs on the B board looks like reproduction quality.
The C board doesn't have any battery below it and I'm not sure if it is even original.

All the boards are legit, and the pal looks legit.
The roms have been replaced or have replacement labels.

I'd say it's fine, nobody is going to bootleg the eprom version of SF2 when there's higher end games available.

is it normal for the cps dash board to have 10Mhz oscillator instead of 12Mhz?

i was wondering where's the capcom B chip. can't find it anywhere.
 
SF2 hyper fighting according the sticker on the C board? That would need the 12MHz board as well

i intend to use darksoft multikit once it is available for purchase.
i'm not sure if the 10Mhz oscillator will work properly with games that require 12mhz.
if my cpu is 12mhz, the oscillator won't matter if its 10 or 12mhz?

I saw that board on ebay. The only strange thing to me is rom 21 is missing.

the Dash sticker should indicate a 12mhz oscillator, so either the Dash sticker was added on or the oscillator was changed to a 10mhz version.

The 12 mhz oscillator is about $5 shipped on Ebay so you can change it at anytime.
 
While not a bootleg, that board has definitely been reworked by someone other than the factory/Capcom.
As pointed out a A board marked Dash should have 12mhz crystal, this has 10.
I can't see the stamping on the B-board, but it looks correct (to everyone who said 21 should be populated that's only on the 4mb-mask-rom type PCB).
The labels have been reprinted, and I'm interested... All all thos mask ROMs? I suspect a partial repair (peek under the stickers for UV windows).
 
I have seen many "Dash" boards with 10Mhz crystals and 10Mhz-rated CPUs, without signs of rework. I think "Dash" refers to the ' symbol, which you could also call prime (like in mathematics, x' being a derivative of x). I am not positive, but I think the "Dash" boardset refers to the SMT-based shrunk design of the later CPS1 revision, compared to the longer surfboard original.
 
The short 10mhz A-board isn't called dash, I should know I traded all my A-longboards for shorts because they fit better inside the Vewlix.
Dash started the 12mhz crystals/with SF2:CE... I've never seen a dash with a 10mhz in person, the ones online I always suspected someone transplanted the sticker.

I wish I had a better shot of the entire board for you to see/compare, trust me when I say the layout is slightly different.
 
i have suspected it as a reproduction board but the seller was indignant when i asked questions. he said if im not happy just cancel the order, he will stop the shipping.
i guess i will replace the 10mHz oscillator then.
i can't test it because the HAS is not available for purchase yet.
i wouldnt need the B and C board since i will buy the CPS1 multikit. wondering how am i going to sell it since its not original.
i bought another CPS Dash board from another seller anyway and it has a 12Mhz oscillator and CPU. wasted my money on the reproduction CPS1 board.

No such thing, as DZ joked above no one has ever made reproduction CPS1 A-board (or I would order like 10 right now).
China made bootlegs sure, but these lack the A-board custom and can't infact play any real CPS1 B+C boards.

What I believe you have is a re-stickered 10mhz short A-board.
Change the crystal clock for a 12mhz and you should be golden.

You might get a few bites on the C-board, because these often fail and someone might be looking for an original replacement.
The B-board is basically worthless, even when it comes to conversions people want the 4MB-MASK-ROM type and B21 C-board.

This is a Knights of the Round conversion (started life as a SF2:CE) notice the board type (4MB MASK printed in the bottom left side)?

So yea, basically you won't be selling it. ;)

FYI I sold all my CPS1 conversions at zero profit (I think I even lost cash on the shipping) because I couldn't move them any other way/people just refuse to pay very much for conversions... Regardless of how much it costs you to make one. :P
