I recently replaced the noise filter in my Sega Blast City with a Tokin MS-2032 noise filter which I purchased a few days ago. The new filter has a rating of 3A but the one that i have removed OEM is a TDK ZCB2206-11 I that is rated at 6A.

I’ve noticed that Yaton Arcade lists the Tokin MS-2032 as a good replacement for the Blast City noise filter on their website (link to Yaton Arcade).

Given that the new filter has a lower amperage rating compared to the original, is the Tokin MS-2032 a reliable and effective replacement for my Blast City cabinet? Are there any potential issues with using a filter with a lower amperage rating, or should I consider another option?

A New Astro City uses about 140W while on. That means that the cabinet is drawing about 1.2A when running on 120V or 1.4A when running on a 100V system, as designed. However, appliances like CRTs have a spike in current when turned on and I’ve read that best practice is to plan for 3X the current draw at start up which would be 4.2A for a NAC on 100V. The power supply on a NAC has a fuse rated at 4A.

I’m not an electrical engineer but my opinion is that the replacement 3A rated noise filler may have a decreased life if it is exposed to prolonged current draw at or above 3A. A better route would be to install a noise filter that has the same or higher current rating as your cabinet’s PSU.

Thanks everyone for y’all reply ended up replacing it with the oem noise filter specs.
