Hey folks!
I'm planning to build my self a cabinet to house two boards and a MAME PC. I'll be a sit-down cab, wired for JAMMA, and use an LCD screen.
I've made a model in SketchUp that I'll be working from. I've borrowed some design elements from the G-Balance, Vewlix, and the like. The main pedestal is in the shape of my company's logo.
Fortunately, Paradise Arcade Shop is just around the corner from me, so most of my hardware needs are a short drive away, but having never built a complete cabinet before I'd like some feedback on the feasibility of some choices.
Namely:
-will speaker placement effect any of the hardware? Right now I have them placed below and behind the CP, but that puts them right above where the two PCBs will be. I was also thinking of hiding them in the botom of the CP box.
-is there a standard angle to mount displays in cabinets? I chose this angle arbitrarily because it was close to the angle my Versus City monitor is set to.
-besides Unico (everything I've read about them makes me not want to support the company) where does one source a monitor in the vein of modern candy cabs?
-any observations on design that I might have overlooked?
Thanks for looking!
P.S. the tan in the image is a placeholder for whatever wood I decide to use. I want it to have visible grain, since the company makes gaming-related furniture.
