Hello,

I've seen some candy cabinets with a card reader unit. AFAIK, only Initial D and Derby Owners are the only games using it. Having said that, are these the only noami games using it?

Thanks.

Isn't there a successor to derby owners that works with soccer teams?
I have seen it on an exhibition in London, but have no idea if Sega ever released it.

@hackcell which card reader ? various NAOMI games may use (at least) 4 different types of card R/W devices, not compatible each other.

@obcd "World Club Champion Football" (WCCF) ? I'd not call it Derby Owners successor, it uses very different hardware setup, including card reader.

according to my research it came out on naomi2, lindbergh and ringedge.

So I assumed the naomi version was a successor to Derby Owners. I somehow remember seeing it on the exhibition in London the year after the Derby Owners.

I have honestly no idea about the hardware details.

Derby Owners uses:
main / big screen unit: NAOMI multiboard (2x PCB)
client units: NAOMI + RS422/RS232C converter BD + card reader Sanwa CRP-1231AR (earlier versions) or Sanwa CRP-1231BR (later versions)
connected using optical "token ring" type network

WCCF uses:
server: PC
main screens (2x): NAOMI(*) + NetDIMM connected using DIMM serial port
clien units: NAOMI(*) + NetDIMM + special SH4-based photo/camera board, which take photos of player table and recognize cards on it + card reader SAXA HW210
connected using TCP/IP Ethernet

(*) might be Naomi 1 later revision mobo or Naomi2
