chinese gdrom-emulating games

I have not seen these but the Chinese have really been innovating lately.

Yeah I've been seeing ikaruga of this, but it's not cheap
it's a single game, the board emulates the gdrom-drive and plugs into a regular dimm unit.
they are all over the asian arcades - used ones are starting to hit the market for about $70
i'm getting a couple to see if they use the same pic as the actual gdrom.

so i have 2 of these on the way 
there are a couple of old posts about them but nobody knows much - nothing usefull anyway.
the plan:
check if the pic's are zero, or have game specific keys,
if specific, check if they match the gdroms
dump the flash and see - well who knows.
maybe it's a straight gdi image, maybe it's encrypted to stop pirates or upgrades - who knows.

ultimate plan:
to create a unit that contains the firmware upgrade to 4.03 so you can just flash ANY dimm unit other than the sattelite-terminal ones.
no soldering or fucking around needed - just plug in and power on
obviously everything found will be reported and shared
