I had issues with random freezes and sound dying on me which is pretty much why Darksoft was nice enough to post the functions of each SN74LVC4245A group here.

https://www.arcade-projects.com/threads/romset-to-verify-your-cps2-kit.11886/

I had replaced the ICs in question and things got worse, stalling on Q.Sound ram checks now, which makes you think the main boards ram is going.

After putting in real Q.sound roms and confirming the multi was still at fault I ordered in more SN74LVC4245A from a legitimate source this time.

I fit 8 of them and my multikit is pumping again, back to 100% !!!!!!

The ones that arrived this time (from Mouser) had the exact same markings as the original Darksoft kit ones, the counterfeit ones (Ebay) have a bigger logo.

I have a heap of spare legit buffers and can offer replacing them if anyone needs it done.

I do wonder what is killing the SN74LVC4245A in these kits though, as it seems its happened to quite a few people now.

PM me and we'll try a couple of things before sending for a repair.
