So I'll preface this by saying I'm new to modifying arcade hardware and soldering (not a good combination) and I recently took it upon myself to consolize one of my spare CPS2 A boards. I installed the Pico and it works and powers the board fine, but I've had trouble with the HDMI board and was hoping someone might be able to help. When hooked up to a TV through HDMI, it'll switch to the right input but show a black screen. When connected to a cab through jamma, the screen will just show a jumbled screen (pics below). None of my solders are making contact with one another, and the voltages are good, EXCEPT for the the point labeled HS. There seems to be no power coming through there and it is the only thing I can think might be messed up (besides my soldering job). I don't think it comes up in my photos but the left most pin connected to the HS pad is brown, so I'm afraid I might've somehow screwed the board. I also took these pics before cleaning the flux off the board :whistling:.

Sync issue ?
Double check solder points be fore soins anything.

That looks like a video ground or sync issue as mentioned above

I would recommend completely removing the digital AV board to see if it works normally on a cab without it installed to determine if the digital AV board is causing a short or if there is an issue with the sync circuit

Took out the digi av board and I’m getting the same results. I assume that means it’s a sync issue? I’m not too sure where to go from here. I’m assuming the issue is PAL BGSA5?

Sync is generated on CPS2 in the same place as CPS1 - on the C custom

CPS-B-21 in the case of CPS2

Both vertical and horizontal sync are generated by the custom, sent through an AND logic and them to the sync pin on the JAMMA edge

I’m guessing from your information above you’ve shorted the horizontal sync line (HS pin)

Follow the sync pin on the JAMMA edge back to the AND logic - most likely an LS08 and it will probably need replacing.

If you don’t have a logic probe, a multimeter and proper desoldering tools, I’d recommend getting someone to fix it for you

Update: I had planned on consolizing both of my CPS2 systems so I decided to move my Digi AV board to my other CPS2 while I fix the other ones sync. Once again the problem is the horizontal sync line, except this time it actually has power. Normally the PAL pin its connected to has just under 5V, but when connected to the AV board, it drops to just under 2V. I guess this means that my Digi AV board also took some damage? I checked everything else and that seems to be the only problem.

If you shorted HSync, yes chances are good it would have damaged both the A board and the digital AV board.

Not sure if that would be an issue with the FPGA or if there’s a diode or something on the line that would have acted as a fuse and will need to be replaced

I just tried my CPS2 DigiAV today after not using the HDMI output for a while and now I'm not getting any audio out of it. There is audio out of the CPS2 board but nothing out of HDMI. I checked wired connections and they are all okay. I don't know what could have just caused it to have no audio out.

I would suggest checking your connections to the audio circuit on the board for cold/cracking joints
