Hi everyone. I've got some really crackly sound on a Real Bout 2 I picked up. Here's what it sounds like: https://photos.app.goo.gl/7FskULiHUXedUraCA
As you can hear its crackly and poppy and shifts from quiet to loud. The FM seems to be fine, it just seems to be with the PCM.

So far I've tried (without any luck)
  • Using two different motherboards
  • Reflowing the pins on all four V ROMs
  • Reflowing the PCM chip
  • Beeping out all the address and data lines between the PCM and the V ROMs
  • Beeping out all the lines between the PCM and the edge connector
  • Cleaning the shit out of the edge connector.
Anyone seen this before and knows whats up? Sadly I don't have a ROM reader that'll accept 42 pins so I can check if the roms are alright, also no unibios (it's an MV-1B)

Might be the PCM chip. Had a similar issue on a KOF98 cart. Replacing it fixed the issues.

I'd check the ROMs first. Fixed so many carts with the same symptoms which simply had a faulty ROM.

This turned out to be several dead (corroded) V ROMs in the end. Sadly unsalvagable :(
