edit: update here

I finally got around to working on more projects this year and wrapped this guy up today.

The enclosure was designed to have a floating "frame" to which the board mounts. I used silicone spacers to keep metal hardware off the PCB, and to absorb impact in the event of bumps or drops. Probably a negligible improvement to protection, but I wanted to get a little more creative with this one given the value of Cave PCBs.

I aim to do a few "special" versions (EG, blue/orange for the Donpachi series, pink/purple/emerald for Mushi, etc.). I also plan to make a base for the original Cave boxes that this enclosure+PCB would nest into.

Wow amazing work! if you decide to sell them please add me for 2.

Thank you. If the feedback is generally positive I'll probably post an interest check thread in the next week or so.

The main issue is the Cave logo. I'd probably change the size/positioning a bit to be more "classy", but I also don't necessarily want to sell anything with active trademarks included. And I'd assume it's a fat chance getting permission from Cave.

FWIW an option for plaintext titles would be better than nothing!

Very nice indeed!

‘If’ there were to be a version with a logo, would you have the option to flip it 180?

I like a case to look nice from the front and have the JAMMA edge and any cables at the back. Not a problem for most uniformly square PCBs, but in this case the cutout prevents it.

Very classy looking though, I like it a lot.

Bit of an interesting update here!

Despite knowing the legal ramifications of using the logo are essentially zero, I really wanted this to be properly official. So, I reached out to Cave about authorization to use their logo. Because it falls well beyond the scope of typical licensing arrangements, we've been discussing a separate licensing policy for hobby/enthusiast products and projects, which should result in this being "official". This would also mean other Cave related projects would have a proper avenue to use the logo legally.

As soon as these details are finalized I'll post an interest check with pricing (and any relevant licensing information). Hopefully sooner than later, but I am at their behest.
